Phone wont turn on.

Ok, so now I have a new issue.

I was using a Facebook messaging application and when I hit the home button to jump back to the home screen everything was gone, no icons or anything. I locked the phone and then unlocked it and still nothing.

So I pulled the battery and now it wont even turn on. Any suggestions?

Can you get into download mode? Did you have your phone rooted before this happened?
