Phone wont update

i just got the fascinate and its still on DIO1 and wont update tried to manually update and i get ip..previous error ?????
idk
but iam thinking about rooting should i update and then root or what, i have a mac is this is a issue

Turn off wi-fi, then update.

Ok wifi is off ...
I downloaded juicedefender and under the log it said iam rooted so I dl root checker in the market and it said that I dont have root acc. But I do have busy box instaled correctly so should I just re root or is there another way to gain root access without the whole proccess

download terminal emulator, if you see #, then you are rooted
if you see $ , then type su if it turns into # then you are rooted
if not then let me know

ok so you are not rooted,,,im guessing that you were able to update and you lost root access , is that correct?

I'm guessing you bought it used,...... ok so you are not rooted, and wifi is off ,,, try to update again settings>about phone>system updates>check new

im falling asleep, but ill try to help you till i fade out

you are going through an awful lot of trouble to get an update that has a good chance of screwing up your phone. if you want dl09, get the stuff from here. do it yourself. dl09 screw up my phone, i had to get a warrenty replacement. lets put some contex on that, do you have any idea the kinda crap ive done to my phone, both by accident and on purpose? my phone has been refered to as "flash raped". i have been able to recover my phone from everything but vzw update.

My guess is CWM has been flashed, so the update won't go through because you aren't fully stock. If you really want the OTA, you can flash the stock kernel and recovery from this thread (copy and paste the links).

If you're content with just flashing ROMs, you can bypass the OTA and update that way

ok if you are sticking to DI01
use section 1 of clockwork section and use the optional root flashing zip i provided,
found here:

in that thread it will also show you how to flash stock images using odin (Flashing a stock image using Odin will wipe everything that is not on your SD card) you can flash back to out of the box stock DI01 or leaked DJ05 and DL09 . all downloads are provided in that thread. i would flash DI01, this will let you update to DL09, like mike said there are some known USB connection bugs in DL09 so proceed with caution....if you want to update from DI01 after flashin a fresh version with Odin it will most likely work by trying the over the air update.
