Phonescoop evolution 3d review is up.

The signal news is discouraging, but he admits to using the phone in a NJ area with bad coverage. I'd be shocked if the 3D isn't actually improved from the 4G...

Man he really did not have a lot of luck with that phone. I hope it was just his area and demo unit. Glad he said it is the fastest Android phone he has used.

Yeah, he states "At my home in NJ, one bar is pretty typical for Sprint. It performed on par with other Sprint 3G devices" so it doesn't mean anything really.

Thanks for making me feel better guys.lol

Sprint has an amazing signal where I live. Now that reviews are starting to creep up I am getting more excited. Hope we don't see a lot of reviews complaining about signal. Lol I have been practicing using Android keyboard on wife's EVO. Can't wait to be free of this Pre -.

This has me worried, considering I'm switching to sprint for this phone and the coverage maps don't show too great of voice coverage in my area (but great data coverage).

Exactly the same boat I'm in.

Pretty good review, the coverage issue may be depending on your area I would imagine.. Sprint does have a section on their website which gauges, seems pretty good. I looked up my area and found it looks to have really strong 4G & 3G coverage.

Sprint - Nationwide Coverage

Whether or not this is accurate, I'm not sure. I'm sold on the Evo 3D.. been tearing me apart deciding between the Galaxy S 2 and Evo 3D for a few weeks now.

Thats for data, not the actual phone part where he says its a disaster and he had missed and dropped calls. Strange, this is now the 2nd phone on Sprint with GB to have these issue, the first one being the Nexus S 4G. Something is very bad with GB and Sprints network it seems and I will bet you anything this is why we have seen ZERO reviews on the 3D and its only 9 days from launch. They dont want people to find out early and not buy it.

After reading through the entire review, I am confident with the phone. His signal issues are the exact same for my current Evo 4G when its in a bad coverage area. I live in Chicago where the 4G coverage is really decent and HD netflix videos sing when my laptop is connected using the hotspot feature. Sprint's service is also pretty good throughout most of the city except parts of downtown. So, I expect the same performance for the Evo 3D that I get with my current phone.

On Another Note, I did notice that the reviewer said that the hotspot feature only connects up to 5 devices. While this isn't a problem, I was assuming that it will connect up to 8 devices like the original Evo.

Also, I do have a question: I have a 3D capable laptop (that came with the 3d glasses) How can I get my 3D content to display correctly in 3D on my Laptop?

If it has a HDMI port then it should be simple. Does it?

Well, all in all a very postive review besides signal issues, but if you add all his negatives up, it sort of makes sense. He said that 1 bar in his area is pretty common, so due to his not so great coverage in his area you obviously will have: 1. Garbled/unclear voice calls, 2. the phone hunting back and forth between 3g and 4g, 3. Battery dying quickly when used as a hotspot (since the signal is bad).

Until I hear from lots of reviewers that, no matter where they live or especially if they live in a good Sprint area, that this phone performs subpar when it comes to signal strenght, I am not too worried. Reviews of the Sensation usually praised it's ability to grab more bars than other T-Mobile phones, I don't see how HTC all of a sudden lost it's ability to make good radios.

Hopefully we'll find more reviews shortly. The phones are out there apparently, here's hoping for the review floodgates to open, starting tomorrow!

For those who wanted to ditch their Nexus S 4G because of the radios issues will be disappointed if they swap it for the EVO 3D and have the same issues. This is the reason why I am not giving up my Nexus S.

I have no issues with the nexus s 4g radio in my area. I think some people just expect too much from a phone. One bar on nexus s gives me like 5mb download speeds. It is pretty damn good. I doubt evo 3d will be any worse. the reviewers is not in the best coverage area so you cant go by signal issues in that review.

It's not the HTC radio, it's the way GB works on Sprints network. Two different phones from two different companies exhibiting the same behavior with poor 4G connectivity in a good 4G area and bad voice performance in a bad area is too coincidental. He couldn't hold a 4G signal in NYC? That's one of the best areas around for 4G. The 3D is doing the same exact thing the Nexus is doing.

Get an airave for free if you have signal issues in your house, took a simple 5 minute call for me to get one last week and it works great

Thanks for sharing.

The whole point of having a phone is that the phone part of ti works. Doesnt make sense for htc to spend all that time developing a flagship phone and skimping on the most essential part. I am dissapointed in htc. However, I will wait for other reviews to see if they address the phone part of the phone. Just to give them a fair chance.

I was also hoping for a battery that lasts 24 hrs. When I saw 1700mah, my mind blew up thinking it will last 2 days. The pre only had 1100. He says he gets 16 hrs of usage. We'll see if its due to bad coverage or what. Again we need more reviews out there but it's not a good sign. Still, it hasnt deterred me yet.

That should not have even been in the review. Poor signal area = poor signal performance. Good signal area = good performance. It's that simple. He should have thrown it on wifi if his area sucks. Phonedog reviews are in a low signal area..he notes it but doesn't detract it from a phones score.
