I just picked up a G5 Plus and I would like to add a photo editor from the Play Store. What is the best free app in the store.

That depends on exactly what you want to do with the pictures. Add frames? Make them sepia-toned? Or edit them the way Paint or Paint.net edit pictures? Read the descriptions of various photo editors and choose one that does what you're looking for.

I'm looking for a dumbed down phone version of a photo shop type editor.

I use an app called Gallery KK. It looks and functions like the old Moto Gallery app from the Kit Kat days, hence the name. It's free to use, but does have ads. If you like it there is a small fee to remove ads. There are tons of apps like that on the Play Store, the trick is finding one you like. I like the one I mentioned so I use it on both of my phones, wife's phone, kids phone, etc. As mentioned earlier, look at App notes and descriptions, user reviews and give some a try until you find one you like.

Photoshop Express will likely be your best bet then. It's free and has RAW support.
