Photo Scavenger Hunt!

I am very new to this and want to join but for the life of me can not figure out how to attach a picture to any thread in the forum. So a little help would be appreciated. I did look for some info in the forums but I could not find it sorry for being a dragged out explanation.:o

I'd love to help...

here's the steps I took.

1. on a PC, go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket

2. Create an account on Photobucket (aka PB). it's free.

3. On your Android device got to market and download the PB app, also free.

4. open app and log in to your PB account and make sure if there are any settings to "remember" when you log in then be sure to click it to remember you.

5. Take picture with Android camera.

6. Once pic is taken, you know how it has a thumbnail of the pic in the upper right corner of your screen... click that and then "share"

7. you'll see options for what app to use to share the pic, select PB

8. The pic is uploaded to your account... give it a second and you'll get a notification that your pic is loaded.

9. Pull down the notification bar, click on the notification and it'll log you into PB and your album.

10. you'll see the pic you just uploaded on the screen, click it

11. hit menu and select "links"

12. select the link labled "IMG" -- you won't see much happen, but the link is saved to your clipboard (kind of like cut and paste)

13. back arrow (exit PB app)

The following steps assume you are using the mobile forums version on your Android device.

To do that:

-- (on your android device) go to http://m.forums.androidcentral.com
-- log into android central central forums, make sure to select "remember me" so that you'll be logged in every time you go to the forums on your android browser
-- open the last page of the photo scavenger hunt and bookmark it.

now, every time you click the bookmark, you're logged in to the current page of the hunt on the mobile version.

Note: I have my forum preferences set to display 40 posts per page so I only have to "update" my bookmark about every other week.

back to the steps...
--
14. open the browser bookmark for the hunt and hit "reply"

15. in the field where you would type your reply, long press and select "paste"

16. the link is copied with the proper coding to make it display the image. skip a line and anter any other text you want and then press "post reply"

17. make sure to pick the "next" item.

practice here. post a few random pics to get comfortable with the process.

this looks overwhelming. I broke it down into a million (well, actually 17) steps. But, seriously posting a pic takes (I counted) 9 clicks and about 1 minute. The first time is a pain in the a$$ 'cause you have to set everything up. but, you'll be flying thru it in a second. practice here. no one minds a few random pics.

and, welcome to the hunt

happy posting!!

Just upload your image to photobucket then you have to put the URL to the picture between img tags like this:

*edit* Ooops! I must have posted just after you, hehe you explanation is way more in depth! lol :D

I always assume people asking questions know as much as I did when I asked the question myself. I LOVE detailed answers. So, yeah... I was a BIT more in depth I suppose.

Nothing wrong with that! :) You sir get a thanks for the great detailed answer!

picassa is the native google / android app. it SHOULD be the easiest one to use. However, for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the img code from their mobile app.

Once again I am slow I want to thank all of you with the quick response. But I can not see where that thanks button is. Thank you in advance David

Tatts,

Good job!! Great with the photo posting AND finding the item.

Note: When entering text after the photo, it works better if you insert a blank line. You'll notice on your post that the first word, "my" in your post was on one line and the rest was on the next.

Also, the "thanks" button is not on the mobile version of the forum. So, if you're looking there... forget it.

On the regular (PC) version, look at the actual post you want to thank and see those little tabs in the bottom right corner? there's quote, multi-quote... and thanks.

Also, there's a little button to click on to add to a member's reputation. The bar on the top of the post where it has the trime and date on the post -- it's blue, to the far right it has the post number... right next to that is a little picture of scales (I think) hover your mouse over it. It'll say "add to so-snd-so's reputation".

The purpose of reputation is to see who's who on a forum. You'll notice those little green squares to the right under the member's location and join date... click on that and you can see the member's rep. The more green squares they have, the higher the rep -- meaning they're a good source for info, humor, etc.

happy hunting, now I have to go look for a classic car.

hey there are loopholes the definition of classic is 25 years or older. So have at it.:D For the thanks button I do not Have one on my screen. The bottom right buttons are quote multiple quotes and quick reply.

I have seen the thanks button on other threads so I know where it is now just wish it was on this thread you guys have been very helpful.

That's odd that your thanks button is missing, oh well.

Here's a classic. It's old and rusty, but classic
