I downloaded the GPE camera apk and have been using it successfully with 4.1.2. What happens if our RMHD's get 4.2. Will the new camera app come with 4.2?

ThatAdamGuy, I have been wondering if it's possible to do an "inverted" 3D image. I'll explain:

A photosphere gives a 3D image as if you were standing inside the view; the effect is that the picture is all around you. (Compliments and thanks to everyone in the team for developing this lovely feature.)

What I would like to be able to do is to take a 3D picture of an object from its outside, e.g. a small statue, an insect on a leaf, or a lampshade. (Obviously, in most cases it would not be possible to photograph underneath the object. That area would be left black in such cases.) The effect would be that you are moving around the picture instead of standing inside it.

It would allow the viewer to examine the object from all angles as if he were there.

I have spent some time Googling this, but I cannot find any examples of this, or even what it would be called, much less how it could be done.

Is this possible on a modern Android phone?

EDIT: This does seem possible with the right app. I discovered Camera3D, which gives 3D images, but only in one direction (i.e. left-to-right, not up and down). It's not quite what I'm looking for, but it will do.

Photo Sphere doesn't work for me... I take all the photos ok and the camera says it is stitching the photo sphere but it doesn't form the actual photo sphere. Instead all I get is a folder with all the individual photos...am I doing something wrong?

Hi guys, I'm new to this but hope I can help with whatever little knowledge I have
I have seen most of the ppl struggling to get a perfect or near perfect photosphere. I mainly and mainly use my cam in landscape mode, even for the photosphere. The simple logic I apply is to find the central axis point for the can on ur phone. Place your index fingers along the cam axis lengthwise and use the rest of the fingers to support and menuver the phone so that it only tilts on the horizontal cam axis. This helps to tilt the cam up and down. Now to establish a vertical axis, put your ankle a little forward (whichever ankle is near to the cam). Now, try maintain the cam right above the forward placed ankle and at a fixed height (I prefer at the eye level) and move yourself in a circular motion and your ankle as your center point. This is how I do it. This might look a lil awkward but worked for me many times. By the way, pardon me for my bad English. Ty.

Once the image is stitched you can use a 3rd party program to export to QuickTime vr. That will create stand alone 360 panorama.

I have just discovered this feature on my Note 4, and love it ( and having viewed my first attempts, I understand why vertical would be better!) I have tried uploading to google view, but I cant find the option share via Googlemaps in the options to share - what am I doing wrong?

I just use a broom stick and pivot around it, keeping the bottom of the phone in contact the whole time...

That's clever.

I eventually decided to go the simple, albeit more expensive, route of getting a photo sphere camera. I got the Ricoh Theta S, and it works very well.

(You can find much more expensive photo sphere cameras, or you can go the cheaper route of getting a photo sphere tripod for your phone — or make your own.)

Hi. Here is a question for y'all. How do I get the center of my photosphere at 180 degrees or due south? When I view the photosphere in gallery as a panorama, I want the middle of the frame to be South. This will make it possible to overlay a solar chart and determine where the sun will be at any time of the year.
