Photographs Not sorting Correctly

Last night I updated with One UI 2 with Android 10.

I have noticed a problem which I think has just happened but I can't be sure.

In Gallery when displaying photos using the "pictures" tab at the bottom. The date against many no longer reflect the date taken. As I say this may not be due to the update but I am sure is is fairly recent behaviour as a few weeks ago I had to track down an early photo using the "date taken" date which I knew and it was fine.

It seems that earlier photos are not just a few days out but years out. In addition to this I now have a whole load of photo place-holders with dates against them but no thumbnails at the end of the listing.

I'm hazarding a guess this is some sort of index issue. Is there a way or forcing a re-index?

Long press galley tap app info then storage clear data and cache, when you back out from there at the bottom force stop

No cache option I can see

Forgot to say thanks at the beginning sorry.

I tapped storage, cleared the cache and then forced stop but when I fire up Gallery the problem is still there.

An example of the problem.

Ok thought with the update it changed something so clearing didn't work, where they somewhere else then added to gallery like from sd card ?

I have pictures on both internal and SD card. The camera is set to save to SD card. That's been the case for 18 months nothing changed.

If they in both places , can you remove the sd card to see if they go back to normal dates incase the sd card might be acting up or corrupt

Can you look at when the file was created (not the date the photo was taken) using a file manager app? If you copied or moved the file at some point, the file creation date would reflect that, and some gallery apps use the file creation date, not the photo's own EXIF data with the date the photo was actually taken. (It's not how it should be, but some developers don't pay attention to details like that.)

@mustang7757 I've removed the SD card and it shows exactly the same problem.
@B. Diddy I've checked a file 20171212_105605.jpg, shown in the Gallery in the day "18 Sep 2018". It's Date Taken/Authored date is 12/12/2017 10:56. The date Created and Date Modified are both listed as 07/12/2018 18:42 which reflects the date I moved them from my previous phone onto this one.

Did you move from another Samsung phone the photos and how did you transfer them ?

No just a straight copy via USB, I keep a synced copy of all the pictures on my NAS
Ok gotcha, I've never did that way , always smart switch or restore from cloud . So something happened with transfer maybe we get someone here to help out what could be the issue.
