Tried to update yesterday. Was part of soak test. Downloaded and tried to install official release. Phone reboots and I get an android guy with an exclamation mark. When phone restarts, a notification pops up saying the update was not installed. Here is error I get...

Code:
assert failed: apply_patch_check ('"system/build.prop", "7d5870975f0d0abdf3e819229dcb4214f16cbe3c", "eb707c4e17944f7017791ee58d9eeaa08f1c820f")

E:Error in /cache/Blur_Version.45.4.12.MB855.Sprint.en.US.zip

(Status 7)

Installation aborted.

Guessing I have to fix build.prop, but no idea how...

If you were part of the soak test, you should already be running 45.4.13.MB855.Sprint.en.US .

Your error report seems to be referring to a 45.4.12 version.

Are you sure you are not already running the 45.4.13 version?

The test would have already had you at 45.4.13 and you would not have been prompted to download the "official" release.

If you tried to download the "official" release outside the regular method of being alerted to the update and choosing to download, you could certainly get a hiccup. If you do a hard reset, you'll come back with 45.4.13 since you were on the panel and would have already had it.

I just reset yesterday and it came up with the latest and greatest.

Did a factory reset and still no luck. Checked just in case but still on 45.4.13.

Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2

Sounds like best you can do is keep checking then.

Sent using my MoPho-King photon

have you tried typing #eliot# into the dialer? that will force a check in with Motorola. reboot after the check in them go check for the software update.

I don't suggest this new 4.5.1A-1_SUN-254_13 update

Go search about this 4.5.1A-1_SUN-254_13 update, this update has major issues, lacks being reversible & locks the bootloader down even more, strange for an obsolete device.

If your Photon is working I would suggest not updating this time.

Not all updates for any Apps/device is desirable in many cases.

Good luck

It's worth the upgrade!!! Battery life is better now, and phone feels faster

1080p recording isnt bad either, here is a video I took with the photon after the update. It was a fire close to my house

Glendale fire july 20 - YouTube

I SBFed down to 154_5, I was at 198_7

These are the exact steps I took to update my phone

Before you begin make sure you have your phone charged at least 30% and you have a good wifi connection, and have some time on your hands

1) Download and Extract 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US.sbf
https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/photon-sbf-files

2) Download and install RSD lite 5.6
https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/rsdlite

3) Download and install drivers
USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA

4) Backup you phone
I only backed up my text messages using " SMS Backup & Restore" from the Play Store

5) Do a factory reset on the phone
Menu -> Settings -> Privacy -> Factory Data Reset
Make sure the follow is UNCHECKED so you dont loose your pictures and files
- Erase internal storage
- Erase SD card

Then press "Reset phone"

6) Once the phone is up connected it to your computer with the USB Cable and run RSD lite

- Press the ". . ." button next to the box labeled "Filename"
- Load up the SBF file you extracted
- Plug your device into your computer RSDLite should recognize your phone right away if you installed the drivers from this link i provided
- Press the "Start" button

7) Activate your phone
8) Start updating your phone, should go thru 3 updates

I suggest disabling all animations, the phone picks up the speed it needs to be more useable

You can Root with this update also, just use the Torpedo method
