Android Central Question

Hi 🙂
Bought my mother a Samsung Galaxy S22, but the pictures are more saturated than a drunken sailor on a Christmas party.

I've deactivated the AI mode, set the screen to "natural", but the colors still look crazy. I'm about to return the S22, but kind of want to keep it.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do unless you shoot RAW and edit the images, or look into downloading a different camera app.

Samsung holds focus groups and those who participate prefer highly saturated images as they tend to by eye catching so they tweak their camera software to produce those types of results.

Thanks for your quick and kind reply :-)
That's what I was afraid of. Well, I will return the S22, and maybe get her something like Asus Zenphone 9, or the new iPhone 14 Pro when it's available. She needs something that's just "point and shoot".

Have to mention that I own the S22+ myself, and except the photos, it's a great phone.

Thanks.
Yes I was looking at this, but they're too big. 6.1" is a maximum. The 6a could do it, but I guess Zenphone 9 might be a better deal.

The crazy thing is that now that the old Galaxy S10e still takes better photos than the S22. Or, not better quality, but better looking colors.

The 6a actually feels pretty small. Remember that a phone with a 6.1" screen nowadays is not the same as one with a 6.1" screen from even a couple of years ago, since bezels have gotten so small.

But the Zenfone 9 has definitely been getting good reviews, so it's worth a look. The update situation still isn't very good from ASUS, though.

Yes, thanks.
I'm a mobile freak myself because it's my most important work tool, but i know that 6.1" is maximum of what she wants. A clean Google phone is tempting though...

As suggested Googles Pixel line tends to do very well as a point and shoot and they tend to have accurate colors in most scenarios. I prefer Samsung due to all of the options and often shoot RAW myself but I'm also a photographer so I'm not the typical audience for "point and shoot".

Thanks.

What about the Google Pixel 5? I'm using one and I believe it's 6".

Yes...
For myself i can live with using other apps and shoot RAW, cause the S22+ camera is amazing as in many ways. But for my mother i think it should be more convenient.
