This was out of the box, default camera settings. (So no live focus, I checked the photo and it had no blur to be adjusted.) Interestingly, it blurred the gravel in the center of the photo (maybe to focus on the dog?).

I find it still doesn't handle black dog fur amazingly, but it's an improvement from my Note 9. Yes, as others noted, capturing anything really low light or moving (or in my house - forever the combination between a black miniature poodle and a charcoal bouvier in Alaska no less) isn't ideal. I blame the setting/subject more than the phone, and while I'm intrigued to hear the Pixel may be better at it for a camera novice, the Note still offers the more overall appealing package for me.

he/she is a beauty! I have two myself and I was pleased with the two test shots I took in low light last night. not good enough for posting but worked for testing modes. I think the black looks pretty good in your shot. and I'm with you on the Note.

He is my first poodle, 10 month mini. I also have an 8 year old bouvier, I'll have to take a 10+ photo of her. Or maybe a video to share the fun of a small poodle holding his own with a big tough dog. Boy, does he ever. ;)

love to see a picture. if I can get my guys to stand still long enough I'll post a shot or two. my two are toys, 4 and 6 lbs. soaking wet. one apricot and one red. my little guy is like your bouvier. he is the boss here even though only 6 mos. old.

my little guy that passed in early 2018 was black and I forever fought with my Note 8 trying to get decent shots of him.

One of my two little guys. Low light, slight crop, hdr off, because I am still in the testing phase of the regular Cam and trying to compare to my Note 8. On my Note 8 this same shot would have been very iffy. So pleased with the 10+. And the shot is soft because he was constantly moving and I'm lucky to have gotten it. Also, I did closeup by moving the camera, not with a setting.20190906_152223-01.jpeg

Random quick shot after shouting "TREAT!" just hoping both would hold still long enough... the bouvier's (big dog on the left) beard does have a reddish tinge on the front from natural staining but this is extremely overdone on my screen, not close to realistic. So I rotated a bit, changed the framing a little, and ultimately posted in a B&W filter for a future memory (favorite part of social media frankly).

(I haven't touched the camera setup yet.)
