Photos taken with your P20 Pro

For video the S9+ bests the P20 Pro easily. The stabilization is still pretty good if you care about shooting in 4k at 60fps which looks crispy clean. Slow motion is great. And even at 1080p the resolution just looks sharper compared to the P20 Pro. But if you don't mind sticking to 1080p handheld or if you own a gimbal like the DJI Osmo or similar it won't even matter since that will do all the work for you. Huawei's 4k is very detailed but you miss out on 60fps recording. Again that's only if you value those options.
Photos are very good. So, more then 30 days P20 Pro is in sell. What are you think about camera? I still need more money to buy a new phone but I need to choose between S9+ vs P20 Pro. I know that 4K video dont have stabilization on P20 Pro but is video quality same like S9+? And what about photos? I use so much camera for photos and video. (But more photos) In my country S9+ is 650EUR and P20 Pro is 750EUR.

I don't have P20 Pro or S9+ to test it. Your answer will help me a lot.

Had the phone for 3 weeks now, but first time taking in night mode ... Will impressed with these as it really was dark

Some P20 / P20 Pro camera comparisons.
Wanted to see if there was much of a difference with the cameras outside of the zoom. From my experience so far, it seems like there's not much between them at all, with the regular P20 often taking the better looking picture.

For all of the talk about the triple camera, for me it seems like there's not much between them.

If I'm honest, it's the AI that tends to make the photos out to be different more often than not. I think all of these have AI off, as it was overcast and it was making the images look like there was bright sunshine due to how it was boosting the greenery. Sometimes it works, often it doesn't.

As I've said before, outside of the zoom features of the Pro, there's very very little between these cameras and for the nicer feel in hand phone, the P20 is still a fantastic choice and not to be overlooked.

The pro definitely shows greater dynamic range in those shots.

A few slow mo videos from show last night, quite impressed with these as was night time outside

Not sure I agree. I think it's extremely minimal in difference and the colours in the regular P20 are always closer to reality. Splitting hairs really though.

Two pictures of flowers. The brighter one is without master AI and darker one is with it.

Interesting shot, thanks for posting.
It's strange what the AI can do sometimes isn't it.

I often find the 'greenery' AI is 99% of the time way off and doesn't do anything but ruin the picture.

Whereas the blue sky filter when that kicks in often makes the photo look great. It isn't always true to life, but it boosts it in a good way.

It's like the food filter. That often boosts to pleasing levels. As seen below. :D

These are shot on P20 by the way, not Pro.

This is without the 'food' AI. Needs a little boost I think - which shows that when the AI works, it's pretty decent!

Hmm. Now I'm hungry!

Found out that many times in bright light the camera over exposes pictures with bright colours. That is with master AI activated. See in picture an example.

Not a huge fan of the AI on this camera, I always cancel the "greenery" or "dog" filters. However, I am finding that the "document" or "portrait" filters do a nice job and are actually useful.

I leave the default resolution at 40 MP since it doesn't over sharpen as aggressively in 40 mp mode. When you want to use HDR or Night mode, it automatically switches down to 10 mp oversampled mode.

So far very happy with the P20P camera.

The P20 Pro was just released in Canada today. Here is a picture from the mall parking lot where I picked up the phone. This is right out of the box no alterations at all. I also took a picture with the Google Pixel 2 (that I had with me) for comparison.

The top two photos are from the Pixel 2, while the bottom two are Huawei P20 Pro's camera.
