Photos uploaded as an HDX ext

Why are the photos I upload to my pc have an HDX ext? It causes errors with the Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Welcome to Android Central! What app did you use to take those photos--the stock Camera app? How did you transfer them to the computer--via USB connection?

From what I found on the web, HDX is a video file format used by Vudu. Are you sure those are photos?
