Android Central Question

Hi

I went out and took a bunch of photos with my Pixel XL2.

I then open the PHOTO app to vie the photos and they won’t load.

All I get is a blank screen with a spinning wheel.

If I wait long enough I get a message saying I’m not connected.

How do I view my photos? And what does being connected to internet have to do with viewing pictures I take?

Thanks

G

Go to the Photos app. Touch the lines at the top left. Touch device folders and then touch camera. You should see that no matter what because you will be looking at local storage.

Welcome to Android Central! Regarding the "not connected" message -- is the phone connected to the web via mobile data or wi-fi?

I have been having the same problem! This fix (device folders to camera) didn't seem to affect it, still randomly won't load photos

What happens if you boot into Safe mode? Do you still have the problem of being unable to view pictures in the Photos app?

Have you tried the simple things.. Like resetting the app data for Google Photos? It might have issues with the local cache, or the permissions are screwed up, etc.

Go to Settings>Apps, select Google Photos, then tap Storage, then Clear Cache/Clear Data. Now open Google Photos again and give it a few seconds to rebuild the database. Does that help?
