so after calling Google photos customer support, I learned that if you ever take a photosphere or panorama shot with the camera and it's not still on special image, when you do your cloud backup, And then you erase and clean up your phone memory through Google photos, that photosphere image and parama shot basically all the special pictures on the phone Will be deleted unable to load media. Does anyone know how to selectively delete the regular still images off the phone without deleting the panorama shots or the photo sphere shots? Thanks for any suggestions. I doubt there's a way but I figured I'd ask.

Not really a way to do that directly because the photosphere is actually using the regular pictures as assets and are linked. You can try exporting the photosphere (not sure if possible) and that would create a separate file just for it.

Yes I thought of that as well but I don't think it's possible thanks for trying to help. Only for the sake of keeping my phone memory clean that's all

What if you move the photosphere to a different folder (one that's not backed up to Photos)? That should still keep the cloud copy but allow you to then delete the files from your phone since that folder's state isn't replicated in Photos' backup.
