Physical keyboard issue

My wife is having an issue with her Epic where if she is typing a search out on the physical keyboard it will start searching before she finishes typing and clear out what she has typed. Say she is trying to search for piano, she will type the "P" and the "I" but then it will start searching giving her responses for "pi" and clear the search field. I noticed the same issue with the demo unit at the Sprint store before we bought the phones. I searched and couldn't find anyone else having the same problem, but are you? Is there a solution? She is stuck on DG27 and I was thinking one of the updates might have fixed this, or possibly a hard reset. Thoughts?

Well i guess i only have bad news for u. Can u guess what? Hard reset factory reset but u can back uo all apps via appbrain and the rest u like contact information u can back up with google or titanum back up u can back up everything. If that still doesnt take care of the issue u might as well go to Sprint and get an replacement device i know it sucks but seems to be the best solution. Maybe someone else has an better Idea?

Is your wife's hand accidentally hitting the enter key on the bottom right of the keyboard? That would trigger a premature search.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had thought a hard reset might be in order but before I did that, or did the other upgrades manually, I wanted to see if there was some other setting or something first. If I have to go that route I'll probably do a hard reset and then install the updates and go from there, her only concern would be the saved data on some of her games/apps getting lost (especially Angry Birds).

I tried typing and got the same issue and I'm 99% sure I wasn't hitting the enter key, at least not hard enough to depress it and it isn't a capacitive button, but I'll give it another shot and make sure I'm/we are not.

Thanks for your help and if anyone else has any suggestions, feel free to chime in.
