Picasa uploading issue

I've been uploading pictures I take with my Evo to Picasa, and I just noticed that most of them have part of the bottom missing, filled in with grey. Here's an example:

It only seems to happen when I upload to Picasa. When I send as an email, upload to Flickr, Evernote, etc, it works fine. This makes me think there's an issue either with Picasa itself, or the Picasa upload action on the Evo.

Anyone else seeing this? I will try uploading from my Hero to Picasa and see what happens. Also, I'll try uploading a lower resolution image. Maybe Picasa has trouble processing an 8MP photo?

UPDATE #1:
Ok, I uploaded a 5MP picture from the EVo to Picasa, and sure enough, it looks good.

So I believe Picasa is having issues with the 8MP size. I'll try uploading from my PC next

Shoot...I uploaded the same 8MP pic from my PC and it looks fine on Picasa. Looks like there's a problem on the Evo side. If anyone can confirm this, that would be great. This could be a bug that HTC or Google needs to know about.

Yeah the good thing is the actual pictures on the SD card are fine and they upload fine to all other services except Picasa. Hopefully it's just a software issue. I'd still like confirmation from anyone else with an Evo to test this.

Are you using the stock SD card? I use a class 4 with my Nikon and never had a problem. Were you uploading to other services from the EVO? or from a computer?

I am not using the stock card as that one was slow and unreliable. Using the card from my old Hero, which is faster and reliable.

I was uploading all this from the Evo. Only Picasa shows the problem

i've had that grey problem when i upload pics to facebook from the pics i have taken with my camera. so who knows why that happens.

Well you really don't need 8mp pictures anyway unless you're making big prints. Sounds like it's a problem with Picasa. Maybe they just got tired of waiting for the rest of the picture to upload and gave up.

Rebooted my phone (required battery pull since it wouldn't come back on) and now the uploads work fine. Seems like the phone was in a bad state (I haven't rebooted in a couple days and installed/uninstalled lots of stuff). Not sure, but I'll monitor this. If after another couple of days it starts happening again, I'll report back.

My guess is a memory leak or other software related bug. The fact that it required a battery pull tells me something went wrong. Hopefully this can be patched.

a poster somewhere else said they contacted sprint and they were aware of the sd card bug and that it affected some of the i/o and review (early) units. I'd take that with a grain of salt but maybe there is more than one bug in them.

either way hopefully froyo will fix it all.

I'm having the exact same problem as you, my gray bars are sometimes larger though! I have installed the latest update, pictures are fine on my SD card and they come out fine when I email them to myself...it's only when uploading to picasa. Well...almost the same. I even had this problem with a photo taken with the front facing camera! This is ridiculous...what gives? Where can I report this?

I can confirm this. And with pics <2mb. Same thing, tethering to PC and transferring that way, they come across fine. Something about the process uploading to Picasaweb. Would be curious to hear of any update to resolve, this is a cool feature.

I have been having the same problem since day one. I don't use flickr because they don't allow me to save my own pictures and I don't want to download another app if I can upload photos with the Picasa which is a stock app.
