some of my pictures are turning out like this with no settings applied. Not sure what is going on, thanks

Looks like an alien from star trek.

No idea, but it looks like it's adding a filter to one half. Try clearing data and see what happens.

Do your photos default to saving to a SD card? If so perhaps it's going bad?

Are you using the stock camera app or a 3rd party camera app?

If stock, try a 3rd party camera app to see if it still does it. If it still does it, then there is a hardware problem; either camera or SD card (if saving to SD card).
