I just received my first text message with a picture attached.
On my BlackBerry it just came over as a MMS message with picture open.

On my Droid X it wants me to download. When I do I am getting a weird error message. "national access coverage not available". What the heck does that mean?

Hmm I would keep trying, that sounds like its on verizons side

Thanks 1088933.
I read your post, dialed *228, programed the phone and tried again. It worked fine.

You da man!

go into your text message settings. There is an option for always download, or always receive... something to that effect. I dont have my X on me right now. There is a setting in there... My pics open right away.

Alpha - I am not sure if I am in wrong place, but in my messaging settings I only have an auto retrieve check box that was checked.

When someone sends me a picture text I get an error in notification bar that message could not be delivered, the when I open text messages the message will be there but I have to download it. Any ideas?

Wow just tested with my son sending me a photo. I got the national access connection not available again. I tried calling *228 like I did last night but it won't program my phone. Looks like a call to Verizon wireless is in store for me.

I'll post what I find out shortly.

Auto retrieve... that's what i ment. I have that checked and get my pics automatically. Not sure if your having a phone problem or a verizon problem.

You can try using handcent to see if it works properly there. Its an idea at least.

Verizon had me do a battery pullnand everything has been working fine for the past 24 hours.
