Pictures disappearing from galaxy S9+?

Sometimes, when I downloId images, my images disapear from my gallery. They are not in google photos, and I cannot find them in my file explorer. Is there any reason why this is happening? I am the only using this phone, and I know for sure that I did not delete them.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you downloading images using Chrome, or from within the Google search app? Make sure you're downloading in Chrome. If you download from within the Google app, the image files go to the /document directory, which is a protected system directory (and is therefore not visible in gallery apps, and can't be manipulated by the user).
