Pin to Lockscreen pin is not always there

When I make an off screen memo, the pin icon to pin it to the lock screen is usually not there. I don't have any others pinned, and it is there every now and then, but inconsistently, at best. Any input on what I may be doing wrong?

I also installed the S-Note app that supports Actions, so not sure if that has anything to do with it. I currently have zero notes saved in that app, but I have been playing with it some.

There's a little note icon on my AOD which leads to the two saved pinned notes I made on the screen when it was off. I don't know if that is what you are talking about though. Sorry for a useless post if it's not.

Thanks, but that's not what I mean. When you make a note with the screen off, there are 3 icons at the top left of your screen. One of them is a Pin that you touch on to pin that note to the lock screen. Most of the time, I only see 2 icons up there, with the Pin one missing.

On the AOD screen, I don't have the pinned note notification icon on.

I just deleted S-Note and that cured the issue for me.

Waking up my own thread. I'm still having issues with this. It seemed to get better when I deleted S Note, but that didn't last long. It's been quite a while since I've seen the pin icon on the lock screen. When I pop the S-pen out, the only two icons that show up in the upper left corner of the screen are the pen and eraser. I exported and deleted all my S Notes, thinking one of them might be in a weird state. I've made sure all of the old S note apps and widgets I installed are gone. But no joy.

Any help would be appreciated.

I got desperate enough to call Samsung support today. After checking some settings, she said she was surprised I was on 7.1.1 of Android. Apparently, she figured I should still be on 7.1. So that was the end of any investigation. "I'll report this to Google, it must be something in the 7.1.1 release. They will need to fix it in the next release." Yeah, right. I told her my phone is stock, and I only take the updates that are pushed to me. I also told her that if it was 7.1.1, lots of people would be ******** about it.

So, as stupid as it is, I have to ask. Does anyone else that is on 7.1.1 have a missing pin icon on the lock screen with the S-pen out?

Thinking I need to do a system restore. Really looking forward to that.

All I fine on my phone. Your issue is weird.

You may have to take it to the brick and mortar Samsung service center for your carrier. Especially if the customer service rep didn't know what Android Version we're running.

Guys. You have to enable ALWAYS ON DISPLAY, AOD for the " PIN " icon to show up. Check you lockscreen and security settings.

AOD was on in my case.

I did a factory reset this morning, and have my pin icon back. Smart Switch did a half decent job at backing up my phone, but leaves a lot to be desired for app and system settings. So it'll be a few days to get back to where I was, but I guess it's the price you pay on Android to do a full restore.

Hi there, I have answer to your concern due it happened to me, same issues and I found cause for this. I'm with T-Mobile with 7.1.1.

I fixed in this way:
1) change Saving battery to Full performance (quick access buttons on sliding down upper menu)
2) Enable Always on Home Screen (at same upper menu)
3) turn off your phone screen
4) get out you S-pen and try creating a new note
3) Voila, now you have pin icon to set your note at home screen

Let me know if it works for you

Thanks for the post, Etoxqui. But I had both Performance mode on and AOD on all the time on my phone.

The reset I talked about above fixed the problem. I've had no issue since I did that back in February.
