PingChat!!!!!

BBM for android

It's a cross platform chat client but it's no where near the level of BBM. No groups, not as fast, etc.

It's based upon your PingID or your phone number, not a PIN unique to your device so theoretically you can take your PingID with you.

EDIT: For clarification: Yes it will allow a group chat, but it's not groups in the same sense as it is on BBM and you need to create a new group when you add someone.

EDIT 2: My PingID Sovak75

This app is pretty cool. Just wondering what makes it different from all the apps though. Like, Meebo, Yahoo, and some others I forget the name of.

its pretty neat- too bad it has zero customizations. I think the best part about it is the ability to send an audio file. record your voice within the conversation and send it. instant voice mail. very nice.

So you don't have to be accepted by someone?

If somebody knows your ping ID there is no way to ignore?

That's no different than BBM, you can send a PIN message to any Pin and they get it. What you have to accept is for someone to add you to their contacts.

Is there any messaging software that can communicate directly with bbm? Or is their protocol strictly proprietary? Some of my ffamily members are on Blackberry devices and would like to communicate without having to install additional software on their end if at all possible.

I would also like to find an app that can do this - but there aren't any right now that I know of..

There will never be an app that integrates into "bbm" as it is a closed server owned by rim. Unless a company makes an agreement (which rim will never do as BBM is the only good thing about BB's currently) to pay to use their servers it will remain closed.

From a business standpoint, BlackBerrys have a ton going for them. I see where you're coming from, and for the general public I agree with you, but as a business phone you can't go wrong with a BlackBerry.

Anyway, I'll miss BBM when I leave my BB, but it sounds like PingChat might fill the void. We'll see.

I had it on wm for a week :) years ago.

Had his app then uninstalled. Won't send/receive messages even though my server status is "OK". my friends have the same issues and there on Incredible's and BlackBerry's
