yeah thats a no go tried everything i could think of and keeps force closing. it shows the color swype you downloaded but it wont allow you to use it.....Weird....

Yep, same thing I got. Kept popping up a force close issue until I unchecked and deleted it. Oh well! Thanks for giving it a shot.

try this pink swype. I got it working. Still has the blue swype trail.

Do not post swype APK's. It is illegal to distribute swype outside of their means. If you want to theme swype, metamorph themes are completely acceptable by AC and Swype as it is not a distribution of their apk.

Well here are the pink and green swype Metamorphs. Install metamorph from the market. Place this swype zip on your SD card and open via Metamorph. Then the important part... Reboot. Let me know if there are any errors.

I'm sorry I forgot about system apps.. You need to reboot before they take effect.. Then choose Swype as input again

Do these steps in this order....Worked for me.....

Open metamorph
unzip/extract new theme
find greenswype Zip select it
let it do its thing unziping
close next screen (shows the developer)
apply all
Reboot
settings
lang. & keyboards
select input method
swype

There you go.....Enjoy....

I noticed that on the newest reborn Rom the swype.apk is located in data/app. I edited the pinkswype.xml to reflect that and installed using metamorph. After a reboot, swype is no longer an option under keyboard settings... I also didn't receive any errors when installing the pinkswype.zip that I altered...

PS. I was getting errors when trying to install it as provided because swype.apk is not in the system folder....

EDIT: Used file expert to look around in data/app folder. There is a swype.apk still now with a pink "logo" I am unable to install it from there or use it though. Lol.

EDIT 2: Figured it out! Here's what I did to get it working (using adb shell):
from the adb directory in command prompt:
adb pull /data/app/Swype.apk
adb shell
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
# exit
adb push Swype.apk /system/app

then use metamorph to open whatever color ie pinkswype.zip, greenswype.zip, etc and apply all. reboot. select swype.

Yea if you leave the Swype.apk in the data/app folder, you need to get it resigned. Easiest is to move it back to the system/app folder.

As for beta, it can be done, but involves swapping out the graphics via 7zip and resigning the com.swype.android.inputmethod1.apk. It's not easy. But can be done.
