Pixel 2 Audio Quality - how is it?

Headphone audio quality largely depends on what dongle you get. The supplied one is capable and is more than good enough for everyday use, but a better external DAC/amp combo will beef it up.

The Pixel 2 runs Oreo, so it supports more BT codecs such as aptX HD and LDAC. Former is on more headphones while the latter is so far limited to a bunch of upper-end Sony headphones. They transmit more data than aptX and SBC, so you should get better sound with these codecs, so as long as your headphones support them.

Other than spending a lot I’d say the razer one is the best option......

I've used the V30 & I'm currently using the Pixel 2. If you have the proper headphones (I used my HD25's) it's not even close as far as audio quality.

The V30 is amazing, it'll be hard to go back to any other phone for audio quality. I have the Pixel 2 because my Mom wanted my V30 & I didn't think hard enough about the difference when doing so. The V30 is far superior & it was completely obvious.

I eliminated the need to search for dongle quality or even having a dongle at all.
I went wireless with the Sony WH-1000XM2 noise cancelling headphone.
The sound quality is equal to anything I've heard and I love the freedom from wires.
It's a little pricey at $349, but for me it's worth every penny.

I've heard that audio quality on the Pixel 2 and 2 XL are great. Plus, I've heard audio on the 2 XL and quite enjoyed it.

I compared pixel 2 xl sound on my bose earphone. Yes, used the 3.5mm to USB C jack... The quality was very good, but then... I plugged in my HTC U11 USB C jack, the sound quality was much better.... You can buy one from htc website 😉
