Pixel 2 Launch on October 4th!

Yeah, hopefully they will be better prepared than last year for the demand.

Re: Here we GO ...Oct 4th ...Big Event

I don't even know what a bootloader is.... Let alone what the advantage of having one unlocked would be. Thanks for the info! 👍
Probably the ability to root your device (most of the time to customize the interface and options to modify your system), and the ability to change to custom roms (like root most of the time it's for customizing the interface, but it might improve performance and etc. And let's say that in case Google stops updating your pixel, you can install custom rom to always have up-to-date system version.)

Seeing as how Google supports updating their phones for a good while I doubt many have that concern :).

My Pixel runs just as smooth as when I first took it out of the box! I am psyched about the new Pixel, specifically the larger device if it has the teeny weeny bezels!

You're right and actually if I were using a pixel I wouldn't worry about it, but since there is a community that would probably keep on updating the phone after Google, I though that its worth mentioning

Thanks for the info. Doubt it'll ever apply to me though. I'm not that "techy". I do appreciate the info though. Helps me to understand better. I also appreciate the fact that my Pixel does all I ask of it on any given work day or leisure day. Good to finally have a dependable phone with an awesome assistant.

Your welcome! As someone who has used a lot of custom roms and used to modify the system as well, I haven't even bothered to root my gs8+. I think that this is just unnecessary anymore.

Enjoy with your pixel!

Just as last year at this time. I will be placing an order tho the Google store this time for the Pixel XL 2 :)

if you buy through Google and use on Verizon will you still get voicemail, hd calling , and video calling like you would get if you bought through Verizon?

Verizon's advance video calling doesn't work on last year's pixel no matter where you buy it from.. but yes you get voicemail, and hd calling on either one

That is wrong. The video calling, HD calling and visual voicemail all work with my Verizon purchased Pixel XL. Of course, you have to call someone who also has a phone capable of the video calling. My son has a Moto Droid Turbo on Verizon, and if we call each other the icon to add video appears and we have used it.

After reviewing all the options available out there for what I would need a smartphone for, it's best for me to wait for the Pixel 2 XL.

My Nexus 5X is the victim of the mysterious bricking problem after two years of use. It's been flawless ever since up until that point. Until my replacement Nexus 5X shows up I'm stuck on my old HTC One M8 for the time being.

Re: Here we GO ...Oct 4th ...Big Event

if you are buying a pixel please buy it from google store. I cant stress this enough

As other's have requested, please explain. You can't make a comment like this and not explain further. I would be tempted to buy from Best Buy due to coupons, gift cards, and financing, but if there's a good reason to ignore all that and get it from Google, please let me know.

The only difference is the bootloader is locked on the ones sold by Not Google.

Buy from who you want.
