Pixel 2 project for old people and case woes.

Hey, just thought I'd pass along something I'm doing that maybe some older people would also like to do.
I downloaded the Google Photoscan app from the Play Store and I'm using it with the free photo storage to preserve my old photos.
I'm at the age where my physical photos are yellowing. With the PhotoScan app I don't have to take them out of the albums to "scan" them. It works really well with the p2's amazing camera and cuts out any glare from the plastic film over the photos.
I'm going to buy a printed photo book to replicate my old albums when they go on sale.

And the other thing I wanted to post about was that I can't stand any of the 4 cases I've tried. They're either more slippery than the actual phone or too bulky and just plain ugly. I've already dropped and broken this phone once but I figure I have one more time left on my insurance. Eff it. I've had the Google cloth case, a clear tpu case, Vinve case which I actually liked the best but it's kinda ugly, and the peel case I got today but is more slippery than the phone naked.

Hope this helps someone out there. :)

Try the Tech21 echo case. It's very grippy and bounces when dropped and gives great protection whilst being very slim.

I wanted to eliminate bulk and have a decent grip. I am using a Totallee case. Ultra thin. Works for me.

"Officially old person" here (75). That's a great idea! By the time most people are 40 they have albums full of yellowing, fading pictures. I wish I had had a decent cellphone 30 or 40 years ago - some of those pictures are little more than brownish smudges now. (The camera app is good enough that it actually enhances faded pictures from the early days of photography.)

As for the case, the Otterbox Defender is a bit larger than the phone, and a bit more expensive than most (even on Amazon), but I wouldn't take a phone off my desk without one. Drop it? Step on it. (I even had one flung against a wall,) I wouldn't drive over one, but that's probably about the limit. (That and water - the case isn't waterproof, and the phone is only water resistant.) But this is my 5th Otterbox (I had 2 for the first phone years ago - it's actually possible to break the ears on an Otterbox) and my phone stays on the desk until the Otterbox arrives. (And a Pixel 2 feels comfortable in a Defender. Add the fact that I'm comfortable with my phone on my belt and it's a win/win situation.)

Haha glad i could help someone else with the photo suggestion.
And thanks for the case ideas. I cleaned my cloth case with oxyclean today. My biggest complaint about it is how dirty it gets.
I have a Pixel 2 @MikeDee. I miss the days of the rugged Samsungs!

If it's a cloth case, couldn't you just throw it in the washing machine with your laundry? =)

I immediately put the Speck clear case on my white P2, and the sucker IS slippery, but doesn't add much bulk for the great protection. I put a Spigen Ring on the back and that makes it feel like you have a great grip on the phone. I also love the car hook that comes with the Ring, enabling you to place the phone in your car where you can view a map app, etc.

Thanks for the tip about Google Photoscan ... I'm gonna get it and put it to work!!

I bough a Minimal (MNML) case and I don't use it at all ........... too slippery.

I'll take my chances with the phone bare.
