Android Central Question

I am trying to move from iPhone to Pixel 2XL. I want to move my unlocked Pixel from my Version Acct to my ATT account and put my iPhone in a desk drawer. If I take the sim out of the unlocked Verizon Pixel and put the ATT sim into it, will it work well? I am afraid to do it until I know that the Pixel works well on ATT. Do I have to go to ATT or call them or just swap out the SIM card?

Just swap in the At&t sim, I never go to the carrier stores. I trimmed my non nano SIM down to fit.

Att works great.

AT&T works fine with the Pixel. However, since you're coming from an iPhone may need to update the IMEI on your account and change your rate plan because iPhones have a specific plan for them. Even though it may work just by swapping sims your service may not be optimized properly for your device.

Also just a FYI, HD Voice won't be enabled until Android 8.1 and no word on WiFi calling capabilities. You will also not get AT&T Advanced Text Messaging feature and the native video calling from the phone dialer. If you're coming from an iPhone then the last two you probably never used then.

You'll need to delete your old iPhone from your Apple account online in order for messaging to work properly on a Android device

I don't think this is necessary anymore. I switch between Android and iOS quite often and all I do is just change my rate plan. I remember having to do this in the past though. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to anyway.

Users will need a VoLTE-capable sim in addition to 8.1 to get HD calling. IMO, it's a good idea in general to provide your IMEI when changing non-AT&T phones.

Are you two saying that HDVoice / VoLTE will work on at&t once I get the 8.1 update?

I don't know about that, I never have (given my imei) and I am using a SIM that dates back to a N5 and the VoLTE seems to be working...and I do not think they had it back that far. I remember the testing for Voice over LTE occurring while I had the SIM in my N6....
