Pixel 2 XL sluggish

I came back to Android after awhile with the Pixel 2 XL. It was great at first, but now (9 or so months later) the phone is sluggish and unresponsive quite often. It can be anything, from launching the camera, switching from photo to video mode, accessing the Assistant, getting a keyboard to come up, and so on.

Any suggestions, do I need to just uninstall every app and put them back on one by one, do I need to do a factory reset? I'd rather not do these things of course. How's the thing holding up for other who got it around launch?

Thanks

I have had mine since launch and it is still really snappy. My buddy at work who loves Apple still admits he likes how snappy my phone is when he sees me navigating the screens.

You sure you have a pixel 2 xl ? Lol
Try putting in safe mode and see what happens . This phone does not know sluggish even in beta os.

The only slow down I've noticed is with the camera. Launching the camera is much slower then when I first got the phone. But everything else is still snappy

How much free storage space do you have left? Sometimes too much stockpiled stuff can cause problems.

Can you quantify 'much slower'? From the time I press the Camera shortcut on my Home screen until the camera app opens and shows an image is around one second or less. This is about the same as it's always been for me.

My Pixel 2 XL had no lag what so ever. Buttery smooth, no hiccups or issues. Lol, now I'll probably have a problem pop up, jinx......

I too recommend launching it into Safe Mode and see if the lagging persists. If so, there is likely a rogue app causing the slowdowns.

FWIW, I ran across an XDA forum the other day where a couple people IDed Lightflow and Custom Navbar as possible sources of lag on the 2 XL. Course the phones in question had already been rooted and modified, so who knows?

I have had my 2xl 5 months with no slowdowns and perhaps it's even snappier than day 1 after a couple of updates. A week ago I downloaded Android p, beta 4 and it is still snappy even though I have reported a couple of issues. Check your apps.

I've had a few instances where the Pixel 2 XL has frozen, and I've had to force a reboot. Otherwise, no issues.

I have been seeing sluggish behavior on my phone as well however I am using the beta os version at the moment so that could be contributing. Are you on stable version of the os or beta?

I got the P beta a couple weeks before it's official release and that resolved most of the slowness. It's not quite as fast as it was when I first got it, but it's fine for the most part now.

This all started for me with the official update to Pie. The camera takes a while to load at times, takes a while to switch to video and then the video records the lag. Notifications are also weird. I will have one show up but it won't take me to the app for 20+ seconds after I tap the notification. Or, I'll be within an app when something comes through (e.g. Twitter) and then the notification hits about three minutes later.

I did a factory reset over the weekend and that does has not helped a bit.

I'm seeing this mentioned more and more around the web, you tube and other forums and tech sites that the Pixel 2 is indeed having lag issues as it ages. My smaller P2 is running as quick as the day I got it so kinda curious if it's more an XL issue. Or there is some other common denominator that ties the afflicted handsets.
