Pixel 2 XL - wifi calling & ATT - possible or not?

I have searched and searched, and it is not clear to me....

I am thinking of buying a Pixel 2 XL, but wifi calling is a must, as I have very poor ATT service inside my home and in my neighborhood.

It seems like there is a need for a new SIM with 27 in the SIM number, and provisioning by ATT, or not.

It is not clear to me - if I buy it, will I be able to wifi call, as otherwise, thinking of going with the iPhone, because I know it works out of the box. Assistance here is very much appreciated.

No wifi calling option on my 2xl. I had it when I was on Fi but as soon as popped my att sim in wifi calling option was gone.

However I did port my fi number to Google voice and with that I have wifi calling. You link your Google voice to your att number so incoming and outgoing calls over WiFi work using your Google voice number.
