Pixel 2 xl wifi issues

This is an odd one. Sometimes when i am definitely connected to wifi apps will say I am not. Usually I have to disconnect from wifi to post to AC forums using the app using mobile data and to refresh threads. But my google photos keeps saying it is waiting for wifi even though I am connected to wifi. BT cloud app says the same thing. Yet my wifi router is working. If I turn off mobile data i can still access the internet, even manually get my google photos app to upload. So the connection is getting through. The apps won't recognise that the phone is connected.

Any thoughts?

It has to do with your VPN. For some reason the app doesn't see the WiFi w/ the VPN going. I have noticed this as well (since getting the Pixel on 8.0 and 8.1).

I rolled back to official due to some issues with Android Auto... Google photos uploads on wifi even if VPN is on now. So seems like a bug with beta.

I saw it on 8.0 at first but wondering if they corrected it with the November update.
