Pixel 3 completely dim when unlocking

When I unlock my Pixel 3 the screen is completely dim. It use to happen every so often. Been doing it more and more lately. I have learned where and how to get to the slider bar to increase brightness since you can't see it when you unlock the phone.

I have the adaptive screen off. I have
tried with it on. Still same problem. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Placed phone in safe mode for about 3 hours. Never did dim on unlock. Rebooted. Second time I unlocked the phone it was dim. Now to find the app causing the problem

When I had a similar problem. It was that the LOCK SCREEN was always so dim, I could hardly see it.
Now, each AM, I have to go to Display once and move the Brightness Slider back and forth once, and the lock screen stays BRIGHT all day. I've been doing this for a least a year. If, for any reason I have to reboot, I have to repeat the procedure. FWIW, I hope this helps.

Do you have any screen dimming apps or 3rd party battery savers installed?

You have lot of apps? Try looking at some recent ones and uninstall them first .

I haven't added new apps in a long time. Ever since the android 11 update I have some that don't work quite right. I will start with them

You can also try narrowing it down to apps that have the ability to Display Over Other Apps. You can see the list in the Settings>Apps>Advanced>Special App Access>Display Over Other Apps​ menu.

I removed the app Beautiful Widgets. I purchased it years ago. I have not had any problems all day. I went to reinstall it and got a warning that it was not compatible with my version of android ( android 11). I didn't reinstall it. So I am hoping this has fixed the problem.

It has been 4 days with no problem. Must have been the Beautiful Widgets app. Hope they can get it fixed. I miss it

Good detective work! Send an email to the developer and let them know about the problem: support@levelupstudio.zendesk.com. According to the Play Store app page, though, it hasn't been updated since Aug 2016, so my guess is they abandoned it.
