Pixel 3... how is the GPS?

I have a LG G5 that works fine for me, except the GPS is terrible. I bought my dog a GPS collar because she wanders around in the woods and I like to know where she is. The collar works fine and shows me where she is, but the G5 GPS is garbage and doesn't show me where I am; so the combination is useless.
In my house it shows 0 satellites, while my wife LG G7 shows 6 satellites; I expect it is similar in the woods.
How would you expect the Pixel 3 to be?
(out in the open the G5 GPS works reasonably well, but even then it gets half as many satellites as the G7)

Also, the Pixel 3 is new, but they apparently haven't been made in years, so the battery is a few years old. Can I expect normal life out of it, or will it soon die?

Thanks.

I moved this from the 1st gen Pixel forum to the Pixel 3 forum for more accuracy.

When my Pixel 3 XL was working, the GPS was fine -- I never noticed any significant problems with it.

If the phone is truly brand new (and not refurbished), then the battery should still work pretty well, even if it's a couple of years old. The smaller Pixel 3's battery is 2915 mAh, so don't expect a long-lasting powerhouse in the first place.

Also, just be aware of this issue that has been rearing its head: https://www.androidcentral.com/google-pixel-3-edl-mode-bug-bricked. My 3 XL died about a couple of months ago, but I'm not sure if it was this issue, or maybe the battery or motherboard just failed. Not to say that this will definitely happen with all Pixel 3's, but the overall risk seems a bit higher.

My Pixel 3 is still going strong at the 3 year mark. Never had a GPS problem.

Pixel 3's are not known for having a great battery, but as said by Diddy, it will be at least 95% as good as it was when it was assembled. There's a manufactured date code embedded in the serial number so you can find the actual month it was made. Search google for the code.

GPS worked fine on mine. Never used it while in the woods, but sometimes in the car it would be sitting on the console with the dashboard and metal roof above. Still worked fine there. Don't know how many satellites were being captured, but the accuracy of the navigation was great.

I find the Pixel 3 GPS very accurate and reliable. I use it for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing. Here's a track created the other day in Specialized Mission Control app using the Pixel 3's GPS. We did a bunch of zigging and zagging over 30 miles.
