Pixel 3 or LG G7 Fix?

My wife has a LG G7 Fix that she likes. She doesn't do much with it except talking and messaging. The back is coming off, presumably because the battery is swelling. Looks like she needs a new phone.

She can just buy a new Fix, or get a Pixel 3 for the same price. As I see it the main advantage of the Pixel is a better processor, but the Fix is better for everything else. Since she rarely uses apps, that would suggest the Fix is the better choice. But I am concerned about poor quality on the LGs, so maybe the Pixel? (she carries in her back pocket; which it barely fits. So maybe that is another point for the smaller Pixel...)

Any advice here, or a suggestion for another phone under $200 would be great. (she is on Consumer Cellular...) Thanks.

I'd say that the big advantages of the Pixel 3 would be the superior camera, unlimited Google Photos backups (at Storage Saver resolution), lack of bloat, and much more current Android system and security updates (at least through October of this year). The Pixel 3 should still get Android 12, while the G7 Fit is stuck on Pie or Oreo (I don't believe it ever got Android 10).

The smaller Pixel 3's main disadvantage is probably its battery, but it's only a little smaller than the G7 Fit.

I watched a youtube video on how to do it. You take out 15 screws and remove everything to get at the battery. I am not at all confident that it would work when put back together.

Take your time, take pictures, follow the instructions, if you are even moderately handy, the repair isn't all that hard. I've taken several phones apart and made repairs to them, and I'm even slightly handicapped as far as touch and feel go. You can even get new backs for most phones out there, to get the original seal of the old back. But definitely, with a swelling phone, get that old battery out and get it recycled, it's actually a fire hazard in that condition.

BTW, is that a G7 Fix, or a Fit?

I too would recommend getting the Pixel 3 - especially since LG is no longer making smartphone products. That's very unfortunate, but as B. Diddy stated above, at least you would still get some updates with the Pixel 3 for a while.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide!

I liked the Pixel, but my wife really likes the Fit; so that is what I got. I will try replacing the battery once I get it moved over to the new one. I appreciate you help.
