Android Central Question

Apparently, T-mobile is doing some adding to the Android 10 update as its not available to any of their customers.

Being told that update will be released in a day to a few months as they are testing the update.

I am a bit confused as I thought this was supposed to be pure android without any carrier intervention

Anyone else experiencing this?

BTW...Pixel 3 XL unlocked

Interesting ... I've not seen any reports of this. I'm on T-Mobile and got impatient so I opted into the Android beta program, updated and then opted out.

Hate how carriers are muddying things up even on our unlocked devices

What irritates me is when a carrier or manufacturer delays implementation, Google Android gets the blame. This morning I was reading a whine from someone who I suspect has a Samsung and will wait 8-10 months for Android 10 and they were blaming Google Android.

You can turn off your phone, remove the Sim card, turn it back on and update it over wifi directly from Google I believe. Every new phone I ever get I do all the updating of os upgrades and security patches over my home wifi straight out of the box, no Sim cards inserted in any of them ever

That's a bit difficult to do with my 3 XL as I'm using its built-in eSIM.

I just flashed the image using flash-all command. You can remove the -w so your data isn't erased.
