Pixel 3 XL

guys let's stay on the topic with pixel 3 , I personally would like Google to stick with htc designing their phones. get rid of lg and stick with Samsung displays , I think they should do fine .

@DMP89145 If all you want is pedantic arguments, fine. I'll be one and done then with this one. You are arguing we shoujld be ok with smaller batteries based on your engineering articles about power efficiency. So it should be OK if we never get more battery life than we have now, right? (smaller batteries are offset by OS and CPU efficiencies). So if you are OK with this this year, you should be OK with it next year and so on, yes? Therefor in 5 or six years of reducing the battery each year and having more efficient OS and hardware we end up with the same battery life and a tiny little battery I guess , yes? Why should we be OK with this? I am saying it is entirely preferable to most consumers to have the same or bigger battery, and still gain the OS and hardware efficiencies. This is what should be happening.

AS far as being cheap with RAM, it is what it is. You can be an apologist and say paying a lot shouldn't mean we should expect similar specs to other high end phones. Just because you do not want it or need it or expect it, doesn't mean others shouldn't.

I am not gonna reply on this anymore as we seems to be speaking on differing planes here ..

Okay, this will be my last post on this as well.

Nobody HAS to be happy with anything. They can buy exactly what they want today from a couple of different OEMs. Why bother complaining about this one if it's not what they want and what they say is important to them IS available in another brand? I don't understand the rationale.

Batteries could get as small as the size of a pinhead, for all the difference it makes to me. As long as my use performance stays the same, or even improves as it has with Android Pie. The spec sheet to me is irrelevant.

If people hate the specs, regardless of what they expect, they should save themselves the headaches (not gonna change anything anyway) and don't buy the phone.

That’s cool. But clearly it’s possible to put a much larger battery in larger phones, yes? That was the point you responded to with your Note 7 comment.

The Note 7 point was in reference to what happens when you try put to much battery in a given amount of space. I don't know for sure but I'm quite certain that Google reduced the size slightly because that's what they could fit inside the Box.
I wish the battery was bigger, however the current battery in the 2XL lasts me most of the day so I'm OK with the 3XL battery as is. I'm more unhappy with the all glass back but it's a done deal so my choice is to get the 3XL or live with the 2XL for another year since I'm happy with Google's product.
The Pixel 2XL is from perfect but it's the perfect phone for me because it does what I want it do when I want to do it.

Since they hired a lot of HTC employees that should be the case. As far as the display I think they will be using LG displays for quite awhile.

Same if this is the case I'll hold off on upgrading this year.

The 2XL should be able to support easily for another year especially since it has a two year warranty. The 3XL doesn't seem like much of an upgrade but I'm curious with what they've done with the camera. I'm especially curious how the secondary SOC might play a role if any with the two selfie cameras.

I'm just not seeing what Google is thinking will entice current users of the P2's to upgrade. An only slightly faster chip, bigger screen or maybe a notch that beats all others including Crapple for being the biggest? A screen size of 6.7" if true would be laughably huge. Along with the top notch and bottom chin, Yikes! Being a P2 owner I see nothing to make me want a P3. Phones cost to dang much to upgrade just because the new model is out. I shall enjoy seeing how this all plays out.

100% agree with your statement. That would be the best of both worlds.

I think that you might be confusing HTC's assembly lines with the engineers that HTC sold to Google.

From my understanding htc was supposed to be doing the design of pixels , that's why they bought the engineer team and who made the first generation pixels, now pixel 2xl was not designed by htc to Google specs but lg did...now who's building the pixel 3?

That's exactly what my assumption was as well based on the news I remember reading.
