Pixel 4 XL Owner looking for feedback...

Since you came from the 4XL do you miss the face unlock feature? What about the Soli thing...ever get use out of it?
Face id was great on the pixel 4xl , soli wasn't fully baked then pixel 5 came along it was scrapped, it had potential.

Do you think Google will utilize Soli for other projects? Or do you think it's destined for the Google Graveyard?

I do miss it a bit. Face unlock was super fast and accurate for me. However the FPS on my 6P is very accurate. It just takes a second longer to do its thing. I am enjoying the bigger screen on the 6P which I suppose was made possible by ditching all those sensors/scanners at the top of the 4xl screen.
I had Soli turned on on the 4xl but rarely used it. Once in a blue moon I'd "air swipe" to silence a call or alarm but that was about it.

I really hope Google further develops/utilizes Soli. I've personally never used it(I upgraded from the 3XL) but I was really intrigued by the concept of it and was anxious to see hoe Google would further develop it.

Nice , you going to do that?

I don’t know....kinda tempted but Google says with my current 200GB based on my usage it would take 4 years to fill 200GB up. The fine print in the email says: "A week after you upgrade to the Premium 2 TB annual plan ($99.99/year), you'll get an email with instructions on how to redeem your Nest Hub." When I click on the link out of curiosity it brings me to a page that says: Screen Shot 2021-11-11 at 11.14.35 AM.png so I'm not sure if they'd wait until AFTER January to send me the link to redeem it, or would they send me the redemption code 2 weeks after I upgrade. Thats the part I'm unsure about. What do you think?

I have the 100gb at .99 a month for 6 months then 1.99 after , for me thats plenty , i think 200gb looks enough for you so me personally i would buy the nest out of pocket and save money on storage unless you really need it

Was kinda tempted to "upgrade" just to get the hub then downgrade afterwards...but that's dishonest and I don't wanna put that kinda karma in the universe.

I'm also coming from the 4 XL and have had my 6 Pro one week today. To me, it's a worthy upgrade. I've never used the regular 6 so I can't speak to that. I was never a big fan of the face unlock. It was pretty quick and mostly reliable, but I'd say I have about the same success rate with the 6P fingerprint scanner, around 90-95 percent. With the 4 XL, I was often having to reposition the phone directly in front of me, or move it further away from my face, etc. So whether I'm having to reposition the phone in front of my face or reposition my thumb on the screen, it's all the same to me. And with the fingerprint, I have the ability to unlock the phone if I'm holding it at an odd angle or if it's sitting flat on a desk. Overall, I greatly prefer having fingerprint available. As for Soli, the only thing I really used it for was snoozing alarms, so I don't miss it. Same for the squeezy sides, never used it.

I feel like the 6P speakers don't sound as "full" as the 4 XL, but they're perfectly fine for the occasional YouTube video, etc. Much better than the abomination that were the Pixel 5 speakers. I sent that phone back after a week and went back to my 4 XL due to the atrocious sound, especially phone calls. Calls sound great on the 6P, just as they did on the 4 XL. To me the beautiful screen (my 4 XL always had a slight green tint...no green tint here), 120 Hz, faster storage, and more RAM more than make up for a slight perceived downgrade in sound from the loudspeakers. Even though the dimensions are similar, the 6P does feel larger and heavier than the 4 XL, but I've already gotten used to it in just a week. If you're coming from a 4 XL and considering the 6P, I say go for it. The regular 6 might be a different story, though.

Battery is good. Fingerprint scanner has been trash for me. Doesn't matter what I try.

I just wish these phones would stop growing in size. I was ready to hit the order button for a Sorta Sunny Pro, mainly because I want a new flagship pixel, but I realized I really don't like carrying my 3XL around because it's uncomfortable and cumbersome to pocket carry and sit with. Why would I buy a bigger version of something I already hate carrying around? As much as I'm dying for a 6/6Pro, I have to be realistic... I want the bigger screen and shiny new tech, but not at the expense of comfort.

I thought I'd be alright, but I'm most likely going to wait for a good foldable that gives my eyes the bigger screen they need....without people asking me "do you have your car in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?" :D

My 6 won't be here till Nov 17-20 (date changed daily and flops more than a dead fish); however, I agree with the face unlock, it is not as reliable I have had more problems as the phone gets older. I'll discount the pain in the rear back in the few weeks I wore a mask in a store cause that was not the sensors' fault, but I would still like to see it float over to the 6 but a different system so it might work better.

Man I actually LOVED the squeeze for Assistant! I used that feature on my 3XL daily! Surely I can't be the only one who misses that?!

Holding down the power button on the 6Pro is a good substitute for me for the squeeze feature on the 4xl.

I came to the P6P from the 4XL and I feel it's worth the upgrade. I REALLY miss the face unlock. It was very reliable for me, and much more reliable than my brief time with the Oneplus 9. I tried the fingerprint unlock for a few days but turned it off... I've never liked fingerprint unlocks. Also, my 4XL was 64 gb, now have 128. I wasn't sure about the curved scene, but like how the display looks and don't even notice it. Never used the squeeze thing so don't miss that. Not a fan of the power button launching Assistant, but I'm sure I'll get used to it I suppose. Don't think it's been mentioned, but you get newer, better specs and a phone with a longer life potential. For me, it seems like the battery is much better, but my use has drastically changed due to a big change at work.

If you are curious, look at the phone in person. It it's bigger, but not significantly. I agree with a previous post that I hate the fact phones keep increasing in size and it is quickly reaching the limit. But every time they put the better specs in the bigger phone and that's how they get me.

I'm glad I upgraded. Though end of September I started having minor battery issues and sent my 4XL to Google for repair. Once it came back, I've never taken it out of the box and will ship it back to Google as my trade in for the P6P.
