pixel 4 xl to pixel 5

if they continue to plan on not being the high in the flagship experience and the high-end mid-range space for phones that's a great plan a strategy for them.
I think the 3XL and 4XL was their last attempt at competing at the high end. Google dabbled in the phone market with the start of the Nexus as a hobby with no real direction and different OEMs. That evolved to the Pixel and eventually designing their own product by Gen 3. They tried but it didn't work out so well and they have bigger fish to fry.
The pixel introduction was being a high end device, then market changed and they needed a midrange phone , I think they should stick to that both versions , its rough times i understand but listen more to what customers want .

You know you're absolutely right. I mean the Nexus/ pixel on the phone is always represented in Google's own thing on Android without any software skins. That's Los Angeles to offer pure editions of their Galaxy phones at no carrier reduced price. The problem is that no one really bought them.

Except that many didn't regard them as high end in the hardware department, just high priced. Only Apple seems to be able get away with that.

Yeah the high price was there , just not the specs everyone was hoping for .

I think I will be moving from the 4XL to the 5. I don't have a reason other than I want to.

I just sold my Pixel 4XL... truly enjoyed it... catch ya Google on the next one...
