Just too small for my liking. I'm just to used to 6.2-6.9 inch devices. The 4a felt like a toy. So much more screen real estate on the bigger flagships. How anyone can use that iPhone SE at 4.7. is simply beyond me.
Some people do have small hands. I've met women (and one guy) who were jealous that men have hands that are 50% bigger, so, to each their own.
I will admit that I wish the screen size was bigger. I'm comparing my p4a to my LG G4, and it seems to be a sidegrade in some areas (even though it's an overall improvement)..

I am sort of jealous of "brick looking" phones since I'm sure it's much nicer doing internet stuff on there. However, not willing to pay extra for that, and I must admit, it's nice having a phone that's more "down to earth".
You can add the navigation buttons to your screen. Go into settings and search for "navigation". Click on " System Navigation/Gesture Navigation". There you can choose "3 button navigation". The three buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen.
What makes this an UN-attractive option are:
1) You can't customize the buttons. On my LG G4, I put the Back button to the right, and added an extra one to lower the notifications bar
2) I've gotten used to the new gestures anyway. If I play action games, I'll have to see if I can get used to NOT triggering the back button when I don't want to
