Pixel 5 & $699 price

In Canada it is $799 Canadian dollars which converts to roughly $599 USD. Not sure why it's cheaper up here when you factor in exchange. Usually we get hosed up here.

Nope. Pass. The phone belongs in 2018/early 2019. What company sits down and thinks its a good idea to literally take and neuter last year's version. Worse processor, same 2 year old camera, worse PPI, no ip68 rating. Complete and utter garbage. Screw Google for this disaster. Give me a real damn flagship with stock Android. snapdragon 865+, 6.9" display, 120Hz, etc.

IDC what their moronic surveys suggests. Look at how the S20 and Note20 lines are selling. There's obviously demand for that. Maybe reach out to Apple and learn how to ******* market correctly.

Releasing these garbage phones just neuters the entire Android brand. What casuals will see with Android is that the creator of the platform is making cheap garbage phones thus the OS must be cheap garbage.

I stopped buying Pixels after the 3XL, however I totally disagree with your last paragraph. They may not be meeting your expectations, however they are not releasing garbage phones. Even if they were that's unrelational to how good or bad their software is.

Very disappointed in the this phone. It seems like Google just can't make up their mind about the direction of the Pixel phone. Is it going to be budget or flagship? I vote flagship. I've always said the average Android user has never and will likely never hear/care about Pixel phones. They walk into a store and are told to decide between Apple and Samsung, nothing else matters. Users on here are a small majority that realize there are more than those two brands. Shame, dunno if I will stick with my P4XL and hopes next years is better or if I will need to find a new manufacture, NOT SAMSUNG.

I read somewhere that Google want done with the soli tech, but it didn't align with the phone they wanted to make right now. Maybe this year they give us their something to tide us over, and next year we get a premium pixel with their own silicone, soli and a pixel watch to match. Not likely, but it would be nice!

My current plan expires at the end of this month and my Pixel 3 is on its last legs.
Looking at either the Pixel 5 or the Galaxy S20 FE for my next phone. Still a few weeks away for both, so i have time to research more, but I doubt I'll be disappointed with either - Tough choice, from what I've seen so far.

Yep. I'll take it. This is exactly what I wanted in 2020. I'm glad this company decided to neuter last year's version, I don't want face unlock or hands-free gestures. SD765G that balances power consumption and performance, awesome Pixel camera now with Wide Angle, vivid OLED, waterproofing, and finger-print is back! Complete and utter steal for $699. Love Google for this mid-ranger. I don't need a real damn flagship with stock Android. snapdragon 865+, 6.9" display, 120Hz, etc. for $1,000+

For every one of you there is two of me.

I'm with you on this that's how I feel about the P5 price + specs it finally had everything I wanted on a Google phone which was enough ram, ultra wide, 4k60fps, bigger battery, wireless charging nearly bezel was display with a fast enough processor.

I'm currently using a p3a and it performs pretty good, not as quick as my p4xl I sold last mi th for sure, but fast enough and I expect the p5 to be significantly quicker. That being said this year's pixel has checked off pretty much every box for me.

Though I like pixel 5, I still think there should be a flagship version for people who can afford and love vanilla android. With just Pixel 5, it sounds like google is accepting defeat. With control over OS, you need to step up confidence in OEM's bringing great and challenging hardware like Microsoft (surface) instead OEM's wondering "does Google even believe in their s*&t or not?".
The direction google took here is very confusing and misleading. Just my 2 cents.

Yes 1000% there should still exist a higher version with the latest processor, bigger display. (There true flagship). Would of been nice to see an xl model with even bigger battery, triple camera setup and glass back etc.

This is what I've been thinking for the last 6 weeks. I hope we're right. I actually love the Soli features.

Will still be top 2 camera at worse though..

Not hard core users but want good phone and camera with support. Had a Droid Maxx, it started and ended with Kit Kat, then upgraded to Pixel because of the support indicated by other Google Phone users in this forum. I did get three upgrades as promised as well as monthly security updates. The Pixel is still going strong but the security updates have stopped. It has been a good phone and still is. I will get the Five in a month or two when Android Central writers and commenters tell me it still is as good as it seems. Oh yes, a sale price would be nice too...

You Won't be disappointed with the Pixel 5. That's for sure! I'm guessing Google's not including active edge on the Pixel 5 though unless I'm mistaken?

I'm on the fence here....I'm at the point where the phones are getting too big. I have the Note 20 Ultra and I find it's too big. So....do I pre-order now or wait until they go on sale - that's the issue. I wish they had a M7 build with today's specs!

Well, I say, if you can hold out and be patient until Black Friday, then see if Google puts their phones on sale. Or Best buy or some other retailer puts the Pixel phones on sale... That's the best suggestion I can give you.

I asked Made By Google this on Twitter and someone replied and said no it won't. I know you can swipe up from the corner to bring up the Assistant but I don't know if you have to have gestures on for that to work. I turned the gestures off after trying them for a few weeks and accidently archiving text message when I'd try to swipe to get out of Messages.

See, for me, I still use my active edge on my Pixel 3 XL. So I mean it's a cool feature. I don't scream the hot catchphrase because I have a Google Home mini at home so that kind of gets annoying if you know what I mean lol. But yeah I know you can swipe up and activate Google Assistant on our phones so I guess it is what it is...

I pre-ordered two of them, one to replace my 3XL and one for my Son. Also picked up a couple of dBrand Grips to go with them.
