Pixel 5 & $699 price

See, for me, I still use my active edge on my Pixel 3 XL. So I mean it's a cool feature. I don't scream the hot catchphrase because I have a Google Home mini at home so that kind of gets annoying if you know what I mean lol. But yeah I know you can swipe up and activate Google Assistant on our phones so I guess it is what it is...

I use the Active Edge a ton on my P2 for the same reason. If they come up with a double tap on the back that you can assign actions to, mine will be to open the Assistant. I thought it would be to take a screenshot since I miss that on the power options but I found an app that can life in our notification try to take a screenshot and I love that.

Yep yep I hear you completely! I mean usually if I say that Google Assistant hot catchphrase at home, Google Home will just cancel out my phone, but it still gets annoying nonetheless. I mean I was going to download an app from the play store to do it, but I'll just let Google allow us to do it.

Well, I say, if you can hold out and be patient until Black Friday, then see if Google puts their phones on sale. Or Best buy or some other retailer puts the Pixel phones on sale... That's the best suggestion I can give you.
Someone told me today that Best Buy isn't doing in-store Black Friday this year--I'm assuming this is because of covid & social distancing. I'm not sure about online sales.

Always check B&H Photo as well. They're a great company and I think most things have a 30-day return window.

I'm on the fence here....I'm at the point where the phones are getting too big. I have the Note 20 Ultra and I find it's too big. So....do I pre-order now or wait until they go on sale - that's the issue. I wish they had a M7 build with today's specs!
I also have a Note 20 Ultra, as well as a Pixel 4 XL. I use the N20U like a small tablet. I really wish the Pixel were smaller, but I got a great price on it, and I actually love the Soli features.

The Pixel 5 is barely larger than the Pixel 2 that I used to own. So it should be easy to pocket & for one-handed use. I would buy it and hen it goes on sale if I didn't love Soli.

Yep yep yep absolutely. yeah Cobra 19 and social distancing really suck but it is one of this. Hopefully they'll be some great online retailer deals this year!

I'm assuming you mean "covid-19," but Cobra 19 would be pretty scary too.

Nope. Pass. The phone belongs in 2018/early 2019. What company sits down and thinks its a good idea to literally take and neuter last year's version. Worse processor, same 2 year old camera, worse PPI, no ip68 rating. Complete and utter garbage. Screw Google for this disaster. Give me a real damn flagship with stock Android. snapdragon 865+, 6.9" display, 120Hz, etc.

IDC what their moronic surveys suggests. Look at how the S20 and Note20 lines are selling. There's obviously demand for that. Maybe reach out to Apple and learn how to ******* market correctly.

Releasing these garbage phones just neuters the entire Android brand. What casuals will see with Android is that the creator of the platform is making cheap garbage phones thus the OS must be cheap garbage.

It does have an IP rating of 68. Smh

There is no way I won't get a new Pixel

They could have priced it at $599 for a much broader appeal. I'm pretty sure there will be at least $100 discount come black friday or few weeks/months later there will be lots of deals.

Personally I don't care about price, I care more about getting it ASAP

Pixels aren't good phones. They're average at best.

I would love a pixel 5 and for £599 the price is just right in the UK. That includes sales tax at 20%. But only just paying off my S10+ this month. Maybe I will get the Pixel 6 or bite the bullet if the prices drop during the sales.

Maybe so, but fresh and frequent android updates is huge.

I think Samsung easily makes the best hardware but their layers of crap on top of Android to try to hide it are enough for me to say no. And Bixby? What are they thinking?

News flash: Samsung has done an excellent job with updates since the S10. Sometimes even beating Google rolling out monthly updates.

I don't want to turn this into a Google verses Samsung thread most people who have used a recent Samsumg realize that One UI is a great experience compared to the days of old with Touchwiz.

BTW: most people know you don't have to use Bixby.
