Pixel 5 leaks.

Without the bezels the screen on the 5 will be the same size as on my 2XL, but the 5 will have a much smaller overall footprint. It might be a nice in between size for everyone.

I think the formula they have had for the first four generations with two sizes, a standard and an XL was better than one size fits all. I struggle to type on smaller phones. I can see where someone who has smaller hands would like the smaller phones though.

I agree completely. While it might be nice to have the option of a 6.5 or 6.7" display, or whatever they can fit into a bezel-minimized body the size of the XL' s we're used to, I definitely look forward to having what is (very close to) the same size display in a body that will be more pocket-friendly and much easier to operate one-handed.

Don't want to nit-pick, but the Pixel 5 won't have the same screen size as the Pixel 2XL. Yes they're both 6", but the Pixel 5 will have an even narrower 19.5:9 aspect ratio to the Pixel 2 XL's 18:9 ratio. That means that the Pixel 5 will be more narrow than the Pixel 2 XL, so not exactly the same size in terms of dimensions.

I think one size at 6" in the form-factor of the Pixel 4a is fine. Maybe the XL models didn't sell much, so wasn't worth making them. Also plastic at the rumoured $700 is a bit questionable, when the competing iPhone 12 will have metal & glass build, likely also at $700.

I didn't consider the aspect ratio. I'll need to handle one in person before I buy. May need to consider the 4a 5G.

I too didn't think about the aspect ratio. That's a game changer for many devices!

Having said that the Samsung S20 FE will also have a plastic back for around $700 but a flagship chip.

So if my math is correct, with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, the Pixel 5 would have a screen width just over 4mm narrower (or between 1/8 and 1/4 inches) narrower than the 2XL. I wonder if the 2XL width includes the curve which is not very usable, and if the 5 will have a flat screen. In the end it may not make a huge difference.
