Hey guys. I'm currently rocking a pixel 4XL but was looking to upgrade to the 6 or maybe even wait for Pixel 7. But today I noticed the Pixel 6 pro is $100 off on the Google store. Do you think it's still worth it to buy at this point at $100 off, or should I wait for the pixel 7? Thanks!

With my experience, I would recommend waiting for the 7. I will be replacing my 6 as soon as possible (after waiting for reviews this time). I cannot recommend the 6.

I can't speak for the Pixel 6, but I can say that the 6 Pro has been awesome for me. I absolutely love the telephoto lens -- it's been a boon when traveling. Battery life has been excellent, and I haven't had any big issues with the fingerprint sensor.

Thank you guys for the input. It's so interesting because I hear stories of people that have had horrible problems with the phone, and others that have a great experience with it. So I'm not sure if I should buy it or wait for the 7.

Presuming they stick to the usual schedule, they will formally announce the 7 in October with shipments starting around Halloween. That's five months.

Issues or no with the 6 aside, if it were me and I did not need the new phone immediately, I would wait the five months for the next phone rather than buying the current one. That's what I did with my Pixel 2. Stretched it to wait for the 6. I know there is always a new phone coming, but for me, less than 6 months for the new one = wait.

I have the Pixel 6 Pro and love the phone. I did buy it knowing that it is Google's first attempt at developing its own chip and therefore might not be without some issues.
I intend to buy the Pixel 7 Pro with the Tensor 2 chip as I think it will be more of a finished product with some greater capabilities. I hope Google learned a lot since the release of the Pixel 6 series.
If you don't mind waiting I think you should look at the P7 phones and reviews before deciding on which series to get. The P6 should come down in price and might be the better buy.

Oh, no. Sales! This could be my kryptonite! If you have a Pixel 4 XL, I still think the 6 would be a worthwhile upgrade and investment. However, if your phone is working well and you can wait a bit longer, perhaps hold out for the 7 line!

Even though it's probably several months until the 6/6 pro comes out I would still wait for the 7. I have a feeling that Google is going to fix the main issues with the 6 (fingerprint sensor, weak modem, tensor update issues) to the point where the 7 will almost become the perfect Google phone. When that happens you're going to really be tempted to trade in your 6 for the 7. So you might as well wait and save that money for the 7.

@Tomster88

You seem to hold on to your device for a little, if the pixel 6 pro was just to launch or a month later i say go that route but its close to pixel 7 launch why not just wait and have the latest pixel, i know you hear some pixel 6 owners complain but im having good experience on mine .

I am deciding to hold out for the Pixel 7 as well. It was a tough choice but since launch is so close, I'm going to wait!

That's also more exciting isn't it... the waiting and leaks/hype for the new model? I think that's what we'll do unless I see any $300+ off sale prices on the 6 line.

It sure is! I'm hoping the leaks will make me want to buy -- but I'm also nervous they may prompt me to look elsewhere. But I have high hopes for the 7 line and so far, things are looking good!

I agree with you about deals like that. They'd be hard to resist, that's for sure!

I think I may do the same. I remember when I bought my 4xI, I bought it at $300 off. Like one of the other responders was saying that would be quite a deal. But maybe it's best to wait for the 7. What phone do you have now?

That would have been a phenomenal deal! I can understand why you jumped on it! I am using the Google Pixel 5. I love it and it's been glitching -- but now it seems to be performing well. I'm also thinking the jump from a great Pixel 5 to a phenomenal Pixel 7 would be a more worthwhile upgrade than a Pixel 5 to a Pixel 6/6 Pro. Are you using the Pixel 4 XL?

I'm using the 4xl. It's generally been good, although I am noticing now it's slowing down a bit and I'm dropping frame rates a lot when I have a lot of apps open. It's not quite a snappy as it once was. But still one of the perks of having this phone is I get unlimited photo backups. I will definitely miss that when I upgrade. How's the pixel 5?

I heard such great thing about the 4 XL and the 3 XL. Yes, that was a loss that rocked the Pixel user base! The Pixel 5 is great! It's the perfect size for me and I love the return to the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Thankfully, the issues I'd been experiencing off and on for the past few months have subsided and the phone is its happy self once again!

LOL! So funny :D! "The phone just came out, I better wait until they work the bugs out before I buy one", then it's "Oh, I might as well wait because the next model is only a few months away from launch", then repeat.

That, sadly (or, happily?) is my life!
