I bought a new Pixel 7 (not Pro) 12 days ago. Today I take it out of my pocket (nothing in pocket other than the phone- keys are always in the other one) and found that the plastic/glass lens cover over the camera was shattered. No other damage, scratches, dents, etc. Honestly it looked like the glass was pointing outward more than inward, but regardless it is broken. The camera works fine as far as I can tell, it is only the plastic lens covering that is broken.
I am 100% sure it did not fall or get struck in any way but I am sure they will say it is user damage so I am guessing no free replacement. I'm really pissed to say the least since this is my first ever android phone after being an iphone guy for over a decade yet it breaks within two weeks when I've dropped my old iphones dozens of times and never had as a much as a shattered screen.
Anyone have any ideas for me? Even the repair shops don't know how to fix it because the phone is so new. I considered returning it since i am within the return period but I don't know what they would do if I returned a phone with a broken lens cover. Is that even an option?
Thoughts?
