Pixel and Pixel XL posted on Carphone Warehouse

I sure hope so...

Like I said, I will absolutely refuse to buy the Pixel phone if there is a MicroSD slot.
Hate it... don't want it... no, thank you.

I have both the Samsung Note5 and S7 edge. I hate the S7 edge because it has
a MicroSD slot... went back to using the Note5(no slot) as my daily driver. Will
not buy another Samsung phone unless the remove the MicroSD slot again.

This makes no sense to me. Why would you hate a feature that is optional and doesn't detract from the phone in any way?

I just don't want it. :) :(

I bought a Ford truck a few years ago and it came with dual fuel tanks, which I didn't want.. but I need the truck immediately at the time, so I accepted it... and I was right, I still had no need for the 2nd fuel tank as of today. :)

I understand not wanting the feature, but not buying the phone because it has a feature that doesn't detract from the phone in any way? I don't get it.

I'm not sure that I'd pass on a device entirely because it had the slot, but it definitely does detract from the device, for my usage, if that slot is present on any mobile device. On a laptop, PC, in a camera - no issue with it being on those devices, but on mobile devices it's a poorly implemented feature that's completely unnecessary except in the most extreme use cases or in budget markets. That means the inclusion of the slot is either covering up for a lack of internal storage, which is a poor tradeoff IMO or it is redundant and coming at the cost of better design, other features or merely as a constant reminder of the opportunity cost of the feature.

It isn't detracting in your example. It is adding. It isn't redundant - it can't be. It is storage for the people that need it and it's basically a free feature. It's only a value add. MicroSD comes at the cost of better design and could cost the phone features? What features have been taken away because of a MicroSD card slot? What designs have been hampered by a MicroSD card slot?

They need to get 2016 specs in these phones, and that would be 256GB internal memory.

I don't know anyone with a computer newer than 2010 with a SSD smaller than 256GB.

Computer versus phone seems .. really different. I don't install 50-60 GB or more (per game) on my phone lol.

For most people, 128gb should be adequate. There are some for sure that need 256gb but those are in the small minority

My Pixel LS has a 64GB drive and it's nowhere even close to being full...... I use cloud storage for just about everything.. I am one who could actually squeeze by with a 16GB phone.. My Nexus 5 is the 32GB version and it's nowhere even close to full...

Like every hardware feature, it takes up physical space, took engineering resources to place and include, took software develop resources to add support and test and costs money to add. So at a minimum, there are resources tied up on multiple fronts to add it in and support it, and resources can be quantified in dollars, and that indicates that those dollars were not spent on other things and/or saved. So they invested in the feature.

Adding the SD card makes sense in budget devices with very low internal storage and in developing markets where connectivity may not be what it is in other markets. Everywhere else, for most use cases, it's simply a much more complicated and hassle-adding solution to a problem that doesn't have to exist.

And I don't know anybody with a computer with a screen smaller than 11 inches so those Pixels better be freaking HUUUUUGGGEEEEEEE!!!

The Blue intrigues me. I thought the blue on the 5x was too tepid and light. If this Blue is a strong color (like the red Nexus 5) I would consider buying it before the others. I'm not impressed by the bland white and I feel the black is going to be a fingerprint horror show.

I am a little (and I mean very small) concerned about having a random piece of glass in the back attached to metal. The weak point of any material is the seam. With the Glass panel on the back it creates a seam where it could fall and break (most phones could fall flat and be perfectly fine). Hopefully it's been tested well and it won't be as easy to break as a nexus 4.

Verizon exclusive blue?

I was told the third color was red and would not be available at launch. Blue could very well be Verizon exclusive.

(would make it easy to spot the fake pixels that nobody should ever buy :p :p :p )

So I left Verizon awhile back and switched to ATT. I am always jealous of the better signal I get on my work phone which is Verizon though. I end up using it as a hotspot so I can use my Nexus when at the river. I was almost going to switch back and your post saved me. Thanks Jerry

I'm pretty excited for the new colors, but I am not sure I can pull the trigger on a phone with a white face. I've only ever had dark colors, and kind of wish they had the same colors with a black face.

wouldn't that be the 4th color? black, white, blue and RED?

I guess pink is out of the question? :(

lol..

But seriously though. You've mentioned in podcasts that in order for a Google Pixel phone to be successful, carriers are an important piece. US carriers aren't turning into dumb pipes anytime soon.

Verizon is the top carrier in the US. Makes sense for Google to have Pixels on sale at Verizon.

I'm always going to be in the "a Nexus (or Pixel) is whatever Google calls a Nexus (or Pixel). There is no fake.
