Hi, kinda new here. I have been researching Project Fi...a lot of great advice and information on AC!....I am also looking to jump off the Sammy Galaxy wagon so I am considering the Pixel XL. I havent read anywhere about the Pixels usability on Project Fi. Does anyone have any info or thoughts? Thank you in advance!

AFAIK nothing has been confirmed, but I'd be very surprised if the Pixel phones do not work on Project Fi. Fortunately, we should find out in a few hours!

The Pixel phones are listed as compatible:

I was really hoping that even with the leaked prices, that there would be $100 or $150 off when ordering through Google Fi. It would have been a way for Google to move the phones and the project forward....

I was disappointed.

I'm going to have to wait for Fi I guess. Really wanted to try it out.

Going to try a Black XL 32GB with Fi sim for a little while to see if it works where I live (in the boonies BTW). On the Red Devil right now, and even their coverage is spotty at best.

My brother in law switched to Sprint recently, and he was pulling data down to his phone in my garage. So I'm hopeful that Project Fi will work for me, and I can ditch VZW.

Have you checked out Sensorly.com for your zipcode. It will give a pretty good idea of the carriers signal in your area.

I wonder If Nexus devices will still recieve the update to 7.1 with google assistant or If it's just gonna Be a pixel exclusive.

Hope it does cuz the Nexus 6p was pretty expensive în romania, so would Be a shame to have them not push out the latest and greatest for it.

I know that you can pre-order both Pixels from the project Fi website. You can buy it outright or make payments on Project Fi plan.

I did try it. Thanks for the tip. Shows no coverage for Sprint at my house, when I know for a fact there indeed is. It's OK - that's why I am going to try it out. If it's worse than the Red Devil, then back it goes. If it is on par or better, then I am out of the clutches of the Demon *****.

That could be because nobody in your area had the Sensorly app running on their phone. That's how they get the data.

Try Fi, no contract so you have nothing to lose but your time. Good luck. :D

The below article states the chief of Android is done with Nexus and the older phones will NOT receive Android Assistant. Nice how they could build up Nexus being pure and getting all updates, but now we will only get partial features because even Google is making a custom version of their own OS.

The Nexus line is dead, says Android chief | Android Central

Honestly this lack of commitment to their brands (beside the fact they kill off useful services all the time) makes me question if I should move to iPhone. I was devoted to Windows Phone for years and obviously with the changes in MS management that is now dead, which is too bad as I love the OS so much. I also love the MS Band 2 that I have and want to see a Band 3 but it sounds like they aren't doing that either and their is not good direct replacement. The closest thing I've seen is the Apple Watch, the Garmin devices just aren't there and don't aim to be.
