The microphones have apparently conked out on my Pixel Buds 2, about 6 months out of warranty. I can't get Google Assistant to recognize voice commands, and my voice quality on phone calls sounds like chalk on a chalkboard.

I'm looking around for a replacement, but just can't find anything that handles GA like the Pixel Buds. So I'm curious from users of those - have connections improved with these? Even on good days, when I was walking, a head gesture would knock one bud out of commission for a few seconds. I'll miss the wireless charging, and swiping for volume control on, but I guess getting lighter weight buds would be on the plus side.

So what say you? Should I plunk down money on the 3rd generation of these buds?

I never owned the Pixel Buds 2 but when I was researching the Pixel Buds A (which I now own) most reviewers commented that the frequent connection drop outs that plagued Buds 2 were completely solved. Just Google Pixel Buds 2 vs. Pixel Buds A and read the reviews.

For example:

I'm sure there are more.

I'm loving my Pixel Buds A. Simplicity of using them is a big plus--pop them out of the case, stick them in your ears and you are connected, no fuss. They sound really good, especially with the bass boost on. I can see where swiping to change volume would be convenient, but it's not essential. I use them about an hour a day each workday and the battery life is very good. And, yes, Google Assistant integration is awesome.
