Pixel Music App - iTunes sync

Hey guys, its been a few years since I left android (Nexus 4) for ios and I am on the brink of picking up a Pixel but there's one thing pulling me away. That is, Music.

I am a huge music fan, I do not use Spotify nor any other cloud based platform (I dont like it), I use a 128gb iPhone6 which has served me well as an iPod, but since updating to ios10 the music app is ATROCIOUS, they took away a bunch of options, and I cant hardly play a full album without having the app randomise every song. So...

I have played with the Pixel personally, and love everything about it, except the cloud based music app it seems to have. I dont mind carrying my ipod classic, but it less than ideal to carry two physical devices. On the other hand I am willing to use a cloud based platform like Spotify, but I what I really want to know, is there is ANY app, on Android, that would resemble or work smoothly with mp3 files which is NOT cloud based? in New Zealand we dont get unlimited mobile bandwidth. In an ideal world it would also synch with iTunes, but then im dreaming.

If not (as I cant seem to find one) I will have to stick to apple which in all honesty, I really dont want to... I really lost every type of hope with Apple after ios8, and Im loving Nougat plus I use only Google accounts and apps either way.

I am sorry if this was asked before, but I cant seem to find any final answers to this question...

Thanking you!

Couple of programs for you:

iSyncr for iTunes. From the Play Store on your phone and from its website for your computer. Sync's your music and playlists from iTunes to any Android phone.

Pi Music Player. From the Play Store on your phone. It's my favorite music app, though there are MANY others available such as Poweramp and Rocket Player.

Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for your reply, that actually helps a lot! I think i'll be jumping ships in the next few days! :D

I understand the apprehension of using cloud based players but just be aware that they need not be used purely as such. One can sync their entire iTunes library to Google Play Music and then have the device download the songs and playlists (way back when, when I switched I had to redo my playlists so I'm not sure what it's like now) to the device over wifi for offline playback without the need for a data connection at all. Even apps like Spotify support download to the device for offline playback.

For sure though, if one is used to working with MP3's and wants to limit data usage then using a 3rd party player is the way to go and as noted above there's a ton of great options. Doing things this way makes things clean, with no extraneous data usage for procured playlists, artwork and the like.
