Android Central Question

Just had Pie update on Google Pixel (not rooted) and since update the keyboard loads on every unlock. I have to either wait for it to disappear or open calendar/camera to shift it.
Very frustrating.

Welcome to Android Central! It's opening on the homescreen, or is the phone opening directly to some app when you unlock?

Hi, thank you.
No it's only loading the keyboard, no associated app. It doesn't matter if I leave an app on screen or clear back to the homescreen, as soon as I unlock again the kb is back just sitting there either over the app left open or on the empty homescreen.

I've tried rebooting phone, removing all widgets from homescreen, and changing various options on the kb itself - all to no avail.

Hello!

I have the same problem. I just very recently upgraded to Pie and am having the same problem. Keyboard appears after unlock. For me, though, the keyboard instantly disappears after a half second or so; but it still appears, is annoying, and shouldn't happen.

I notice that the problem does not happen after a restart. So far, the only way I have been able to reproduce the bug is by unlocking the phone to a screen that requires a keyboard (chat screens with text boxes, password screens, etc.). On subsequent unlocks, the keyboard would appear again and again.

This happens even in Safe Mode.

Steps to reproduce the bug:

1. Get to home screen
2. Choose any app that requires text input, prompting the keyboard to open
3. Lock the screen
4. Unlock the screen
5. Close the app or do anything else
6. Lock-unlock the screen, and the keyboard will pop up for a half-second or so

Thank you

I seem to have fixed it. The problem stems from using password as lock screen security, prompting the keyboard to open even when it's not focused on the text box. If you then open using finger print or face unlock, the keyboard will think that you're trying to enter password and appear. Try using other security measures for the lock screen.
