Pixel or Pixel XL?

I am comparing aspects of the phone that are important to me. I do not believe that the phone will work better or more reliable than my HTC 10.

That's fine. And for many, the Pixel may be a better option. Choice is a fantastic thing.

I agree. I do like the Pixel, and I am happy that Google is going vertical. This is something they should have done years ago. Samsung is doomed.
Google must control the platform. I am happy that Apple gets a serious competitor.
I would very much like to have a Pixel, and if I had more I would buy one as my second phone, but as my primary phone I have to compare it to my current device.
The things I don't like are:
- The lack of a dual speaker system
- The lack of a 24bit DAC
- The bottom bezel
- The FullHD display of the 5" Pixel.

qHD is a complete waste on a 5" screen... It could even be debated as to it's worthiness on a 5.5" screen. Think about it for a second. Most people do not have 4K TV's and even those who do, 4K content is limited.. We view 1080p happily on a 60" TV but get upset when a 5" screen is 1080p?

Now VR wise maybe 4K is better. I don't know and can't really say until I try VR out on the 1080p 5" Pixel..

It is definitely a downgrade. You would lose the great audio, sense UI, fantastic build quality, bigger display, and the SD card. the Pixel is much worse than the HTC 10.

Google Assistant is really cool, I think the AI component is underrated. It's still primitive but this is the type of innovation phone nerds love.

QHD is not the same as 4K. 4K is 4096x2160 and QHD (literally "quad HD") is just basically the equivalent of four (the quad) 720 HD screens...so about 2560x1440.

It's hard for me to choose. I'm in love with the 5.5" screen size, especially for Netflix viewing, but yeah, I guess this is when you need to do a hands-on comparison.

The comparison is still valid..

Well, my G3 has QHD on a 5.5" screen and it looks fantastic even two years after buying it. Like I said yesterday, I'd love to keep with a 5.5" screen, but I'm not sure I want a phone that's so much bigger than my G3. There are times the G3 feels too large in my pocket.

Semantics but there is a difference.

QHD = Quad HD
qHD = Quarter HD (960x540)

:)

I went with Quite Black, Pixel, 128GB version as I had the Nexus 6 and man its a big phone. I hate it now. Too big in pocket and can't use it with one hand ever. Battery life and resolution not big deal to me at least. Smaller screen means less battery draw for resources so I think the battery part is negligible. Not to mention the potential for Quick charge of 7hrs in 15min makes it a mute point for me.

I would go w Pixel if it had the same resolution...Pixel XL seems a little big but that's the one for me.☺

I think, in the present day world, the 5.5 screen is ideal given the phone is slim (around 7 - 7.4 mm) and weighs less (around 150g) because the best thing that a bigger size phone adds is the battery power and this is what we all need DAILY. Then, video calling and watching things on your phone gets better ofcourse.
I was reluctant for the same with my last buy and I always feel content with my decision to go for 5.5 screen and with slimmer and lighter products coming in, life gets better with 5.5 screen :)

I'm currently weighing options to migrate from my N6. I was actually leaning more towards the standard Pixel, though. I also have a Nexus 9 for when I want to watch stuff.
