Found out the issue. There are apps that are causing your photo album to malfunction. In my case it is the QR scanner. I uninstalled the app and the photo album worked like a charm.

I had an issue as well where my wallpaper was changing automatically and this was caused by an app that is called wallpaper for me. I uninstalled it and my wallpaper never changed again.

Kinda odd that some apps are interfering with the google apps but nonetheless it is the causes of our trouble. I would suggest to uninstall the app that you installed before your issue happened.

I came here looking for some information on Photo Albums and this post made me laugh.

Why in the world would you have a QR scanner on a Pixel 3 when you have Google Lens?!?! Instant!

I'm a little late to the party, but I just got my Stand from Best Buy and am now trying to figure out this Photo Frame issue as well. It starts fine when I first place the phone on the stand, but once I interrupt the Photo Frame (e.g., simply by tapping the screen to bring up the ambient display), it never restarts -- until I physically take the phone off the Stand and put it back on again.

Screen Saver is turned off, no QR reader apps installed, Ambient Display is on. Tried turning off any Trusted anything from Smart Lock that might interfere (and also tried turning off Smart Lock completely through Trust Agents), but that didn't help. In case it was a 3rd party launcher issue, I changed from Nova back to Pixel Launcher, with no effect. Forgot the Stand and set it back up again -- no effect. Tried clearing the Google app cache -- nothing. I'd rather not factory reset just for this.
