Pixel Stand Photo Frame Not Showing

Got my stand today and it won't even go all the way through the setup process. It gets as far as assistant and then it stops. None of the settings are even available.

Online support said go back to the store and get it replaced. That was their only advice.

I did another factory reset and it works again. Not sure how long it will before the photo frame stops again but there is a problem here...perhaps with AI or Google Assistant.

In my case, it randomly works. (20% works, showing photos, 80% stop working).
It is related to software. Google should be better than this.

Re: Pixel Stand Photo Frame FNot Showing

Found out the issue. There are apps that are causing your photo album to malfunction. In my case it is the QR scanner. I uninstalled the app and the photo album worked like a charm.

I had an issue as well where my wallpaper was changing automatically and this was caused by an app that is called wallpaper for me. I uninstalled it and my wallpaper never changed again.

Kinda odd that some apps are interfering with the google apps but nonetheless it is the causes of our trouble. I would suggest to uninstall the app that you installed before your issue happened.

Unfortunately quite often third party apps (especially free ones) cause all kinds of mysterious problems.... either after an update or just trying to use a feature on your phone. That's the main reason I don't install them unless it's an app connected to something I purchased..... and even then I'm cautious lol. I've also never had any major issues on any of my phones. I'm not saying they're evil or anything ;-) but I would definitely look at any third party apps installed on my phone first if I developed a head scratching problem lol.

I really think this is a problem with Google Assistant. I think if something gets corrupted with Google Assistant, it causes this to not work. I recently moved over to a newer Pixel 3 XL, brand new, loaded the phone as a NEW Phone and then set it back up. The photo frame has worked every time now. And, my location based reminders are working again. They were broken on my previous Pixel 3 XL. I just think there is a connect to Google Assistant.

+1 on this theory. I originally set up my new P3XL using the Google backup of my Nexus 6P and the entire Pixel Stand app kept crashing. I finally factory reset and set it up as brand new, slowly downloading my apps. Turns out there were a number of apps relevant to the 6P that were unnecessary for the 3XL - including a stand alone Google Assistant app. I suspect (theory, can't prove it) software conflicts/confusion/corruption may have occurred due to the standalone GA app being installed.

I'd add more generally that as debuted the Pixel Stand app is somewhat buggy and not very well thought out. My photos now work but any activity near the proximity sensor shuts them off and they will not resume without taking the phone off and then back on the stand. When listening to Spotify (using BT trusted device) placing phone on PS causes a "now playing" to appear, including album cover and player controls. It's really nice ... and then after about 10-15 minutes it just disappears to the default ambient display. Hopefully that's a bug and will be corrected. Finally, they really need to include the option for the PS to be a trusted device. I really, really want to like the PS, but as currently designed and implemented it isn't much more than an expensive charging device. I don't use the wake feature but all of the other PS app features are either buggy, crippled or unusable ATM.

TL-DR - Pixel Stand app needs a major software update.

Does anyone know how to change the time of each photos when they change? Seems to be very slow at changing to different picture and would like to be able to increase the rate of change.

Thanks.
I don't see a setting for that. Ironically the Google Home Hub allows you to adjust the rate of change.

There is absolutely a setting for it, but for the life of me I can't remember where. I received a new 3XL the other day after an RMA of my first one. On that now deceased phone, I had increased the Photo Frame rate change on my Pixel Stand from its current one minute or whatever it is to 10 seconds -- the same setting I have on my Chromecasts/Google Home. But I can't find the setting anymore on the new phone. It's definitely not in the regular Pixel Stand settings (Settings > Connected devices > Previously connected devices).

I have 3 stands and have never seen a setting. I don't know anyone else who has either.

Well, I'm pretty sure I didn't imagine it. Nor was I confusing it with the ambient settings for photos displayed on the Chromecast.

Is it in the 'Photo frame' options under the Bluetooth settings?
I have neither a Pixel 3 nor obviously a Pixel Stand but I saw this mentioned in a different post.

The settings are under connected devices.
The only thing you can with the photo frame is select the albums/photos you want displayed.

might be a bug that's affecting pixel stand when you go to settings then display then screen savor it still crashes on the gear icon , so maybe something with that.
